L Ujpest FC 2-0 Leeds - Inter Cities Fairs Cup Quarter Final 2nd Leg (1969, 57 years ago)
I recall we had a few players out due to flu.

I was at the Ujpest Dozsa game at ER when we lost 0-1.

UJpest had a high class winger Bene, he scored lots of goals for Hungary.

Everyone is young to me, or feels it anyway 😂.

Still plenty of time for him to fulfil all that promise.

As young as ever

Let me tell you, I've had three people all younger than myself call me 'young man' this week, which I find really funny. :-D

Attended four of those games.

That team vs Forest was rudderless at the back under Warnock.

To think, there was less than 22,000 fans at ER witnessing that 3-7 defeat.

I recall we had much fewer for a Leicester City home game a few years later, around 17k.

Dreadful times for us harden fans who suffered one of worse times supporting Leeds.

Leeds fans who moan about our club now, would have been suicidal then.

A few titbits from that team in 1967

At that time, Willie Bell owned a off-license shop in Pudsey & Paul Madeley also had his own Paint shop business.

How times in football have changed

I loved Jimmy Greenhoff, I was so sad when Leeds sold him, mind you, his upgrade replacement Allan Clarke softened my blow, with Clarkey becoming a LUFC legend.

Terry Cooper was a left-winger at that time, Revie converted Cooper to a left-back as Willie Bell's replacement.

Were those 17/18k's late Bates or GFH I can't remember. I went to a game v Bournemouth and it felt weird. Full Kop but the rest of the place looked sparsely populated. Best game of the season though for me, we won 1-0 Luke Murphy scoring I think.

Yes, I was at the Bournemouth match, it was under the lights in front of a 17,000 crowd, if I recall correctly,

Amazingly Leeds were 5/1 to win that home game, some shrewdies made a good profit on the night.

Callum Wilson was playing for Bournemouth then.

The kop has always been full of the dedicated fans, the rest of the stadium was an embarrassment..

It always makes me laugh when Leeds fans sing 'Where were you when you were :poo: '

So we played the second leg of the legendary Zenith Data Systems northern area final only 2 days after the first leg?

Almost like tiredness didn't exist before 1992 :duno:
