1964white wrote: Sat May 02, 2026 12:27 pm It was a general question to those who are unhappy with Farke.

Newcastle has built a Premier League squad with plenty of investment over the last eight seasons.

Marathe/Farke have laid the foundations & are still building with a few more bricks in the wall.
If Sunderland finish above us then he hasn't outperformed Le Bris obviously.

Howe? Yeah if the table ended how It is now.

I hadn't realised Newcastle were having such an iffy season (admittedly they did beat form team Brighton today and have West ham and Forest next so could conceivably finish quite a bit higher still).

White Riot wrote: Sat May 02, 2026 1:54 pm I hope we don't go down the route of over spending on a few players Leon, cos we're not able to sustain that level of risk, and I just think it's a very short sighted strategy.

As I said in the discussion on DCL, it's completely unnecessary to spend a fortune on players, and I consider it to be an absolute myth that you are forced to pay astronomical fees for top quality players.

Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford, whose fanbase put together is a fraction of ours, have managed to survive and progress at this level, when on paper that would seem to be impossible. If the 49ers, and these investors, are the shrewd business people that we're hoping them to be then they could do worse than follow the business model of the 3 Bs.

These clubs are known for investing comparatively small amounts on transfer fees for talented young players, developing them, getting great match winning performances out of them, and then flogging them on to the Greedy 6 and co for a fortune.

Brentford = 105.6 million gbp profit from 4 players
Ivan Toney cost 5.5 million gbp and sold for 40 million gbp to Al Ahli
Christian Norgard cost 2.8 million gbp sold for 10 million gbp to Arsenal
Yoane Wissa cost 50 million gbp and sold for 55 million gbp to Newcastle
Bryan Mbuemo cost 5.4 million gbp and sold for 65 million gbp to ManU

Brighton = 243.45 million gbp profit from 6 players
Moises Caicedo cost 4 million gbp and sold for 115 million gbp to Chelsea
Robert Sanchez signed as a 15 year old kid, so minimal fee involved, and sold for 23 million Euros to Chelsea
Leandro Trossard cost 15 million gbp and sold for 24 million Euros to Arsenal
Ben White signed as an 18 year old for a minimal fee and sold for 50 million gbp to Arsenal
Marc Cucurella cost 18 million Euros and sold for 62 million gbp to Chelsea
Joao Pedro cost 3.1 million gbp and sold for 60 million gbp to Chelsea

Bournemouth = 143.1 million gbp profit from 6 player sales
Illia Zabarnyi cost 22.7 million Euros and sold for 57.1 million gbp to PSG
Nathan Ake cost 20 million gbp and sold for 40 million gbp to Man City
Dean Huijsen cost 15.2 million Euros and sold for 50 million gbp to Real Madrid
Milos Kerkez cost 15.5 million gbp and sold for 40 million gbp to Liverpool
Dominic Solanke cost 19 million gbp and sold for 65 million gbp to Spurs
Antoine Semenyo cost 10 million gbp and sold for 63.6 million gbp to Man City
Excellent post WR.

It all comes down to the quality of your data recruitment and the willingness of the manager to play the style your data recruitment has recruited for.

It's vital.

It's why those teams do it so seamlessly and just integrate players effortlessly.

They have a set style of play, play it and recruit for it.

It's what (eventually) helped us.

The 49ers are big on data recruitment.

Nail on the head again mate :ok:

That's 16 players generating almost £0.5 Billion profit :$$:

No wonder these clubs are soaring, currently sitting 6th, 7th, and 8th in the EPL. There's the blueprint for success.

Three tiny clubs smashing it at the top level of football, while other clubs with larger fanbases and resources seem incapable of running a piss up in a brewery.

Well done to the 3 Bs, it's a completely refreshing approach and an indication of clubs who have moved with the times.

As a Washington Commanders/Redskins fan of 44 years, I can confirm, as will Faaip, that the NFL is very much data driven, with continual analysis of coaches, players, opponents, draft prospects, playing strategy business needs and free agents,

It's absolutely the only way to go.

Washington General Manager Adam Peters, whose also a minority Leeds investor talking about the recent draft. He was the 49ers Assistant General Manager and Washington are very lucky to have recruited him. Very sharp brain, nice and funny dude, but don't let that fool you into forgetting he's 100% ruthless in striving for what's best for the team/franchise.

A relentless winning personality

Brilliant win, gets us a step closer.

Hopefully the club are already looking at summer targets so we keep improving and moving upwards next year.

It is a blue print for clubs of their stature to survive. But is it sustainable ?

There is a flip side to this, as an example not that long ago Southampton also sold ! sold ! sold ! a lot of talent over a number of years. They were also a proverbial Icarus.

You two need to get a darkened room.

It's the modern way, everything is data.

If it goes well you get a Brighton or a Brentford and everything is seamless.

If it goes badly then you get our 2nd and 3rd season.

So, sitting in your darkened room, what is your strategic plan for Leeds United?

EPL finishing positions:
Bees: 13, 9, 16, 10 and currently 6th.
Brighton: 15,17, 15, 16, 9, 6, 11, 8 and currently 7th.
Bournemouth: 16, 9, 12, 14, relegated on the last day of the season, 15, 12, 9 and currently 8th.

One relegation in 22 seasons of football, I'd say that's very sustainable.

Fair comment Cjay.

When I look at the Greedy 6, that for me is the unsustainable approach, that will eventually pop big style.

i.e, egotistical manager like Guardiola, Arteta, Slot, Amorin, and Spurs/Chelsea's crazy owners decide " Ooh, bright shiny new toys! I demand them now, and just pay any fee the seller wants for them. If I then decide I actually don't like them, once they're here, I'll just discard them and get some new ones. Bean counters, get busy and cook the books, or you'll be fired today" :)

Here's one though.

Leeds United (8) have scored 3+ goals in eight different Premier League matches this season, with only Manchester City (12) and Brentford (9) doing so in more different games in this division.

It’s an interesting one. Would you rather have 10 seasons of mediocre, mid table finishes, or a few mediocre seasons interspersed with a relegation and the excitement of a Championship title winning season?

So, we have been more attractive to watch than Sunderland.

We also scored our team goal of the season at the Stadium of Light.

I never want us to go back to the Championship, it's a dross level of football, and we shouldn't belong there. That's apart from the financial, morale and squad turmoil relegation creates. You saw the mess that Farke walked into

So, I'm hoping we push on and progress at this level. If those 3 Bs have all managed it, then why can't we?

We are capable of so much better, and we deserve a bright future.

Red Bull have built a sustainable football empire on data.
Liverpool were guided by it under Jurgen Klopp.

In fact if their is a club that does something unexpected positively (wins a title or a cup) liklihood is they are massively into data and analytics.

It's sustainable if everything is aligned.

Of course like everything it's not totally guaranteed, some managers don't like it for example and refuse to get in line so to speak (Brenden Rodgers at Liverpool for one).

But if everyone is on board it's the best thing you can do.

Guardiola is massiinto data and analysis tbf to him, was one of the early users

But take your point.

If you have an open cheque book it's easier because you can get the best data fits and if it doesn't work just buy a new one.

Whereas other clubs can't afford to get it wrong.

We aint going back to the championship, James.

Construction work begins on the West Stand immediately after the Brighton game.

More revenue next season.

New floodlights are being installed in the next week.

We are steadily moving forward.

I'm expecting at least a comfortable mid-table position next season.

We didn't get our recruitment wrong last summer.

New players needed time to settle.

And now we are seeing the fruits of our new signings.

Even the much maligned Okafor has got two songs constantly sung at games now.
