Bought Space Oddity and Hunky Dory from there last month...
Hunky Dory takes me back. About a decade or so ago I traded music on Ebay. CD's mainly. I was a DJ in my younger days so always had a decent knowledge of music and I accidentally found a gap in the market to make some money for about a year between jobs. I'm sure you have heard of music magpie. They rely on Joe Bloggs thinking.. I don't want my CD's anymore so I'll sell them to music magpie for peanuts but it's better than nothing. Then music magpie would list them for about 10 times as much and make their lolly that way. But here's the thing. It seemed nobody at MM had any really knowledge of music and certainly not about rarities and whatnot and they would list the majority of decent and rare stuff at a flat rate of £8.25.
Hunky Dory on CD from the 80's was one of the CD's on my list that I could buy at £8.25 and I would easily sell it for around £50. Early On was another Bowie that did very well for me and now and again the idiots would list SACD's at £8.25 too. Bowie's Heathen SACD I got 2 copies of and sold them both for £150.
I basically had a list of around 250/300 titles that I would trade like that for profit and had page refresh software monitoring both Ebay and Amazon so the moment MM listed one of my titles I would hear a ping and go straight to the page listing and buy it.
You couldn't do it nowadays though because I think MM employed someone more knowledegeable at some point and killed off the £8.25 lark haha.
Oh and Ebay report your sales to the taxman these days I hear but back then I got away with all that just as a private seller and never had a business account.
Not sure why I'm telling you all this as it's nothing to do with vinyl and Bowie's not really my cup of tea but I did like a few of his 80's hits
