The club are in a no win situation, if they sack Farke.

Bring in someone else, who does well, folk will say Farke would have done anyway. Bring someone in, who does worse, folk will say why the hell did you get rid of a successful manager.

I’m a Farkebabe, always have been, so I obviously want him to stay. Be madness to get rid now, absolute madness.

That is a different debate. I am not suggesting they should replace Farke. He has done a great job - but people at the top of big companies do not necessarily have an emotional attachment when it comes to making what they consider the right business decision.

I am not a Farkebabe - but horses for courses.

He deserves to stay - but he would need a new contract - and contracts are never straightforward as both parties generally have expectations, which are not always mutual.

Aussieleeds wrote: ↑Mon May 18, 2026 12:25 pm The only reasons management would be unhappy with what Farke said would be either:
1. They were planning on getting rid of him and he’s made it as if he’s calling the tune, or
2. They were intending to spend stuff all and just hope to survive.
3. They want to retain control over the football department.
He’s also made it harder for them to replace him. Obviously, if he goes for whatever reason, any potential replacement will now ask the same questions of the club.
That's what it's about, control

Beren said as much in his article.

DF wants more, the owners want to run as like Brighton/Red Bull.

But if it comes down to it would you want DF to have absolute control over footballing decisions?

If you take your love for DF out of it the last time he had that was in amateur football in Germany.

This isn't a manager with an extensive top flight record of success (who tend to be the only managers who get that, Ferguson, Wenger, Guardiola)

It's a very risky move for someone who has done well this season but has no record as of yet of sustained success at the top level.

I think compromising is best.

And wouldn't it be a bit arrogant on DF's part to demand the level of control only previously reserved for the absolute elite of the game? If that is his line in the sand

I have no problem with Farke making his case. The club has obviously not given him any guarantees. If we were sitting on 36 pts right now, the club would be already looking elsewhere.

Possibly, however I think there is a lot of reading between the lines.

Conversely, you would expect BC to have some level of knowledge as he will have off the record contacts within the club.

But I prefer facts rather than speculation, even if it has potential merit.

I am merely saying that for the “people at the top” it would be hard to justify that replacing him is the right decision.
Having said that, I’m sure many Leicester fans thought replacing Pearson with Ranieri was despicable after “the great escape”.

It's all speculation I suppose and trying to read between the lines.

I didn't watch his press conference but some have said he did say he wants to be in charge and full control.

It's a logical conclusion I suppose given the information we know about how we are ran and we know DF by his own admission wanted to be a Sporting Director who indeed have full control over footballing matters.

As you say, he deserves to stay and deserves a new contract.

If he decides to walk himself, if his expectations can’t be met, then fine. But for the club to sack him makes no sense to me.

He's never been in a stronger position as a manager so no issue with him saying his bit.

The club were quite happy to let his future linger 12months ago so maybe he fancied a push back ? Who knows

You only get a record of success by being successful and that take time, and the opportunity to succeed.

Fergie apon arrival at manchester did not have that reputation, they nearly got rid of him, but slowly slowly he worked developed the youth to have a new generation of Busbie babes... and then success came.

Whether Farke likes it, or not, ultimately he is merely an employee of the football club and has bosses above him. I had it myself in business, I thought one thing, my boss thought another, and, ultimately, it was my bosses decision which counted. I don’t know what you do for work Cjay, but if you have a boss I assume it’s the same.

Farke may want complete control, but it ain’t happening, someone else will hold the finances for one thing. He may have the final decision, as he is the boss on football matters, e.g a certain player but it’s a team environment and with so many factors involved one man can’t make that decision.

Interesting one. If you don’t have that control, you can always say it’s not your fault that the club didn’t buy and develop the players how you wanted. If the only managers that have had that level of control are Pep, Fergie and Wenger then I’d say the model works pretty well.🤷‍♂️

I agree with this.

It's very old fashioned for a football manager to have full control.

Basically every team now has Sporting Directors and data teams and such , it's meant to make it easier for the manager and easier for the club should the manager leave.

It's sensible.

If DF insists on absolute control as you say he won't get it.

So it needs compromise.

I don't know how it worked at Manure but it's a different time and I imagine it took a while before Ferguson earned total control.

We know by the end he was basically the all controlling presence.

But apart from Pep at Man City and the City Group I don't think is another manager in football now with that all seeing manager role.

And Pep is different as he's similar to Rangnick and Red Bull in the sense he created the template City group use.

Except for what he achieved at Aberdeen which was incredible
