Two poor reds today, just the first one was a red imo.... If the tournament carries on that way we'll see very few games finish with 22 players on the pitch

Bonkers, Precedent set.
Good luck to the other referees.

You can gradually feel the expectation surrounding the England team and their prospects ramping up and this now happens virtually every tournament with ex players all chirping in about how England can go all the way etc etc. So much so that by the time we play our first match the hype will have built to such an extent that a thumping victory will be seen as almost our birthright.
The truth and reality is that England will be as limp and disappointing as usual but still somehow might manage to avoid an embarrassing defeat to a nation ranked significantly below them. That's probably the best we can hope for so I wish them well before the inventible happens when we meet our first serious opposition.
It's coming home my arse as someone Royle used to say.

Like most sports SA has lots of footballing talent, but virtually the whole team play in the domestic league, which is well supported, but not a high enough level.
They have to get players into Europe - like the days of Lucas Radebe.

I think the 3rd one was a valid red. Looking at the replays he played the man with no intent of playing the ball and the player was sprinting on goal.
The second one - for me- was a foul in the other direction. Mexican player backing into a player running on goal.
Overall not good refereeing. Central and south American teams are known for diving when touched. The refs are going to have to be alert to this.

Great 2nd half the Czechia keeper was keeping them in it.
Overall, 2 decent games for day 1. No 'lets play not to lose rather than to win'.
Lets see what tp.orrow holds for us
Good to see Canada offering the Somali ref the opportunity to officiate a game in Canada. No way he should've been denigned entry to Trumpistan. But they dont really have the capacity to understand the impact and scale of a world cup.

Reports indicate fans or officials from countries including Iran, Haiti, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, and Somalia faced denials or restrictions tied to U.S. immigration policy.
Good for Canada, perhaps they can keep him on to open a "Quality Learing Center"

Didn't stop him from heading in the 2nd goal.

Players running off the pitch when being subbed is a joy to see, as opposed to the PL cheats dawdling & taking an age to leave the pitch as they run down the clock.
