Always reading but zero interest in the format. I imagine we'll only get beat by bloody Hampshire once again at some stage

Our recent record against them is awful across all formats and I'm dreading the game in the CC where another defeat to them could badly damage our survival prospects.

Here's my guess if it's seeded based on points and run rate

Northants (1) v Gloucester (8)
Hants (2) v Essex (7)
Notts (3) v Surrey (6)
Yorks (4) v Somerset (5)

Edited as Somersets rout of Worcestershire has them passing Surrey's run rate

No easy games though and Essex turned us over last week IIRC

I don't like T20 much but at least we can identify with our teams and they have "our" players playing for them

Can't watch the 100 as no connection to any team and it's aimed at the non cricket lover, it's basically a new sport

Would have liked to have seen how McCullum did on his own. Always felt a bit like Stokes was sometimes too big of a personality.

Doubt he could have turned it around with or without Stokes. Too set in his ways and no plan B. He only introduced a few new players recently because it will have been forced upon him by the ECB clowns after the Ashes uproar. Should've been sacked then, along with Key. How that chump stays in his job is beyond me. Looking forward to the next few series now though as I couldn't watch us anymore under McCullum.

McCullum was a busted flush but according to Key (who should also have gone) he has left England "poised for greatness". Under McCullum England became a cosy little club where once your feet were under the table you were "in" especially if you were a decent golfer.
I hope that they get Justin Langer ( a no nonsense hard man) although would he take the job ?

Stokes had to go after his schoolboy late night drinking sessions - remember he was so lucky not to have gone down after the Bristol fiasco. However did McCullum jump or was he pushed - it matters not. The first one to resign or get sacked should have been Key - completely out of his depth.

My funniest run out personal story was I played cricket for my local church for 15 years from late thirties to mid fifties and toward the later part of that I was called for a "quick single" by this long striding very fit 50 yr old and as I dived for the crease at the strikers end, breathing a sigh of relief, I felt a tap on my shoulder from my batting partner who had run two in the time it took me to run one.

Excellent win for Hants, not over yet but Essex need 93 from 13 balls ... England' Sonny Baker did the damage with a fivefer and another T20 century for James Vince (126 from 60 balls)
