My recollection is that we had a bare bones squad that was sinking rapidly and needed all and any help it could get.

Not really who had their hands on the rudder at LUFC at the time as the ownership was in something of a discussion / transition at the time wasn't it? Whatever - they made a proper Horlicks of it all.

And only the season before Harrison's goal secured our safety.

Easy to judge JH on his performances since signing the contract. Prior to that, whilst he was inconsistent, his stats overall were decent and on his day he was a cracking player. A shame the way it worked out but if we'd have got £20m for JH then Orta would have likely splurged it on somebody like Cuisance etc - or a player that would not have done anything for us in our relegation 'scrap.' As such we'd have then had a different player, instead of Jack, likely signed on high wages, with a relegation release clause, and the situation would have turned out quite similar.

I'll admit I was one of them. Some fans forget how good he was at the beginning of that season. Newcastle were trying to sign him summer 2022, with all their newfound wealth. The issue was loaning him to Everton, not once, but twice, and that destroyed his value.

It’s just natural that some signings will not work out over the long term. Harrison/Schmidt/Wober are prime examples. Wober and Harrison both looked brilliant at times but their heads/ego/circumstances changed everything! On the other side of the coin, look how Raphinha/Stach/Darlow/Summerville worked out for us? Many work: some don't, C'est la vie...

Playing Devils Advocate he was very shoddily treated when the Club tried to ditch him in Leicester City's direction and then changed mind. Loyalty is a 2 way street is it not?

It could be said you are advocating for what turned out to be a devil in disguise.

I did defend Harrison on here for his immaculate first touch and always putting a shift in during the Bielsa years.

The shame of it is both he and his mother thought he was better than he actually was; a half decent Champo player.

He had proven himself at prem level with his 3 seasons with us. Everton probably didn't suit him due to their way of playing and it looked like he regressed massively. Also think he had a mental coach so it may be that that side of his game suffered and so far hasn't got that sorted out. A change of scene, such as to the MLS, might be exactly what he needs - feeling wanted can do wonders for a player.

That could definitely be a part of it as Bielsa did get the most out of the players and it was at times almost like he could have put the tea lady in a position (ooh er Jaydog alert) trained her up for a few weeks and she would have looked premier league class.
