well £40-45m , wages £100K per week to get in a replacement number 1 GKweasel wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2026 4:27 pm So you'd be prepared to offer him the same wages that Man U were offering him to be a back up? Maybe have to offer him more as likely MU could give him a bit of a guarantee that he would play cup games especially some in the Chumpions League sh*te.
For an accountant you seem very good at splashing around the cash with no thought to a budget.

We could have kept Meslier to be a permanent interpreter for Igor Paixão (deal still not dead apparently) while being handcuffed to Paixao 24 hours a day.
Igor Paixão: C'est l'heure de se lever, Mes ?
Meslier: "No. It is NOT time to get up yet. It's 4am FFS."

Oh, I would disagree with this statement! LUFC was something like 6th best over the 2nd half of the season. And will have upgraded at least two positions, and maybe three. If we can keep Daniel Farke from tinkering with what works, then I see no reason we can't move up at least a couple spots. If we could have turned 3 of our draws into wins last season we'd of finished 10th. I think we could have done that with better goalkeeping alone.

Re: Summer transfer gossip and squad discussion
We should have pulled Meslier out of the firing line a lot sooner than we did. I was lauding Darlow way way before we actually pulled Meslier. If we'd have pulled Mes out, we may not have destroyed his confidence/reputation saving him from making more mistakes (as he did). I blame the club for that. Guy was dumped and had nowhere to go afterwards. Shame because we could have gotten good money for him a couple of years back...

Re: Summer transfer gossip and squad discussion
The player knew that his contract was ending and wanted to explore options when that happens. Looked at the offer from Leeds and said "Nah". What is the Leeds Board to do in those circumstances? The Club has a point beyond which it either can't or won't go - don't want to be doing a Ridsdale! Which is fair enough in my book.

If we want to progress can't limit ourselves to players who just say yes Daniel no Daniel.
Big players have egos, managing them is part of football.
Leao on one leg walks into our team.
Isn't happening anyway, we can't afford him.

From BBC Gossip quoting a German source.
Hamburg are interested in bringing Belgian Leeds United defender Sebastiaan Bornauw, 27, back to the Bundesliga. (Hamburger Abendblatt - in German)

Re: Summer transfer gossip and squad discussion
Trafford is done.
Brandt turning us down means plans change (hence not pushing for Charles).
Still want the areas we wanted but budget has to stretch further now.
Left wing and attacking midfield still possible but won't spend big on both.
No plans to sell Okafor or indeed any interest but club wouldn't stand in his way If a big offer arrived.
Paixao is possible but not pushing to leave Marseille.
Stolen info of course
