I said Piroe was leaving 2 games ago. DF doesn't rate him or want him by the looks of it. Makes you wonder who's decision it was to buy him? We should have got the lad from Norwich instead...

I see it as DF wanted a striker at the time but Piroe wasn't number one on the list. He's never really been happy with Piroe as a first choice striker imo.
Don't get me wrong, I rate Piroe and he has done his job for us in his time at the club, but we need to move on.

Just got back, I'm beat long day. It was a bit of a strange game tbh, not going to lie it was quite boring for the most part, people were on their phones near me haha.

Happy with the result, a look at new signings and great to see so many kids involved at the end too.

Big Tarik looks a monster and you can see him being a fan favourite already.
Wilson was quite anonymous outside the pass for the goal, and should've scored really.
James tried but no real quality and not a starter.
Gnonto looked a class above when he came on, really hope he isn't sold.
Glad Cairns got 2hrs and a clean sheet, he's fine as our back up for me.
I really liked Mills when he came on, trying skills and flicks. He reminded me of a pre-Red Bull Jack Clarke, a real maverick with no fear and unpredictable. If we could nurture our own homegrown version, we could save fortunes. Also we haven't had a ginger in a while.
Lienou and Cresswell are both not far off the first team. Both should feature in the League Cup 2nd round, no excuses really.

For those who think friendlies are pointless, you should see how many kids are coming for the first time, or the queue in the club shop

Glad you enjoyed your day, SG,

Attending games can be very tiring, what with all the travelling, excitement & the adrenaline flowing.

I agree with that.
I feel the same way (now) about Gnonto.
Its more that he has to move on. He's very young and wants to play international football- he needs more game time for that than we can give him moving forward.

Like both those guys, but as you say we need to move on.

Thanks for that summary SG - much appreciated
Good to hear lots of kids around - on and off the field.
I just posted that I think Willie will move on. He’s young and needs more football than we can give him right now.

I think Wilson is being played in a different role to that at Fulham - Farke said as much in his interview. I think he will come on and be an asset - quality player.

Clean sheet and 0 injuries...
Yep. It was listed at 2 60 minute games, as agreed by the two managers.
Good idea really.
It would have been great to have had Trafford on for 60, but a day too early. Should get some minutes in the week.

Longstaff feels like a new signing.
I was thinking the same thing 64. Longstaff has added value in each game so far. I liked him from the start. I think he'll be a real asset this year.

Same with Bornaauw - really worried though were going to lose him to Hamburg. I really rate him.

First goal was bloody decent too. Great pass from Bogle and our lightning fast winger, Rodon, delivered a pinpoint pass. DCl with a good finish and then the neat little ball trick - classy all round.

Agree. We do have to make a few sales in the coming weeks.

Frankly the one I'd least like to lose in Bornaauw. He is good value. Quitely just does his business. Gabi is injury prone - we need Bornaauw. Tell Hamburg to pound sand.

Willie needs full time football and Piroe is championship or Eredivisie type striker imo.

Read a little interview with Wilson where he was asked how the preseason was going.

He said "I dont know if its a German thing, but there's lot of running"

Was a nice day out at ER today. But it was indeed baking under the sun in the lower East stand. I'm quite used to it living in Mexico so wasn't too bad for me but I could see how intense it was for the locals attending.

Otherwise SG90 has summarised most of my thoughts already. Tarek looks like an excellent signing, comfortable on the ball, sharp with excellent feet, and was often looking to play balls through the lines. Bornauw was solid and it would be a real loss to see him go. And Gnonto, like always, was trying to make things happen and I was impressed with his defensive work. Like Bornauw, he's another one whom really ought to be getting more minutes because he can play. I liked the look of Lienou from the kids and apart from one near costly mistake, I think is a definite talent, and certainly already has the physique for a full/wing back. Mills too has something but he definitely needs to bulk out as he will be childsplay for top-end PL defenders and they'll definitely snap him in half.

Another good outing for getting more minutes in the players legs. I`m sure they will be feeling the effects but it will be good for them in the coming weeks especially when the season kicks off.
Thought a few players still looked a bit off the pace, especially Stach, but maybe he is one of those that's just needs a bit more time to get up to speed, not every player will be the same, fitness wise, at this point of the season.

I'm unsure Bornauw is going anywhere!

Sebastiaan will get plenty of minutes due injuries/suspensions/etc. Premier League clubs always needs plenty of quality back-up on their bench.

Justin arrived at Leeds as a back-up player, he made 25 starts in his 34 appearances.

Bornauw only made 9 starts in his 16 appearances, I can see him making more this season.

Of course Daniel Farke did not rate piroe, and that is why Joel got the golden boot in the championship promotion year just to spite him.
