Is AI more knowledgeable about football than your regular fan
AI can write opinion pieces, do match prediction and analysis, find out stats and transfer fees. It can sift and filter a vast amount of knowledge that is not available to the normal punter. It also makes mistakes, imagining Leeds are still in the championship, or that Rutter is still playing for us.
What puts you off about the intrusion of AI on this forum, and how do you recognise it.

A mixture of easily recognisable & don’t care, used AI this morning to plan a trip but by the time I had put in all the details & parameters I could have worked it out myself. It’s probably a great time saver for those who post a lot on here so doesn’t really bother me.
Prob change my mind when it starts closing down banks, shutting down the internet or starting a nuclear war, now where did I leave my tin-foil hat

Professors can use apps like chatgptzero to see if there has been plagerism or the text has been AI generated... but there are apps that allow you to humanise AI text.
I suppose it becomes complicated when someone edits the AI text to make it less detectable by adding a human touch, by adding a preface or an epilogue that they themselves have written.
I think the recent post by Cjay which was generated by AI, yet was perceived by many as balanced and optimistic is a case in point. It may well have contained the majority of the text as AI but in certain parts additions were made so that it gained approval and was liked.
I have no problem with the use of AI being used in the daily debate. If you can have a rough draft to work on in 20 seconds which you can mold into something likeable readable and coherent, then why not go for it.
Far from being upset the poll at the moment says people just don't care, so noone should complain.

A fan from Australia, America, Bulgaria, Scotland, or Finland. Someone who lives the match day experience vicariously through the interwebs, and is somewhat acquaint with computers and technology, as opposed to a cloth capped luddite who pays his money down and revels in the experience first hand at ER

Doesn't help but you seem to be saying saying the question is Is AI know more knowledgeable than football fans who don't go to the ground?Sean_Nile wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2026 1:45 pm A fan from Australia, America, Bulgaria, Scotland, or Finland. Which leads to other questions but lets clarify the original one first

Basically is a write up done by someone who has attended the game, more accurate and dependable than an analysis of the game done by AI.The Subhuman wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2026 1:52 pm Doesn't help but you seem to be saying saying the question is Is AI know more knowledgeable than football fans who don't go to the ground?

Does the human observer pick up nuances that a blind machine can't.
Or is the human limited by his vocabulary and writing skills where as the machine has access to LLM and can churn out an article in any style you want as Cjay has shown by getting AI to write in my verbose smarmy pseudo intellectual style.

The trouble is also that AI is not balanced it relies on whatever relevant information it can dredge up. We often see, when it comes to fans chanting for a manager to be sacjed, that the noisiest fans are those demanded change even though they may be in a minority. Similarly those fans will become the keyboard warriors and as such AI sees more of their posts and draws conclusions from those.
As such like you have mentioned anything you ask it to produce is slanted as per the whims of the person making a request and what they ask for.

At some point in our near future we will end up having to have a complete technological reset as the only way of surviving against AI. All electricity will be shut off, all machines effectively killed, even cars which will have so much built in AI.
It is what happens with the world. We get to a point of advancement and then have to reset. We are not the first civilisation to reach this point, and in many more thousands of years, after we have had to start again from almost caveman like beginnings we will again reach this point and again have to reset and restart.

It really struggles between old and new info. Ask it to produce a list of teams in the premier league and it struggles. Ive asked who are the best available prospects at left back and it will give me players that just switched clubs a few months ago.Sean_Nile wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2026 8:15 am AI can write opinion pieces, do match prediction and analysis, find out stats and transfer fees. Like you said. Great at plowing through tons of information. But it does struggle to filter through current and old information.
