I have to admit he has played pretty well in the last couple of games we saw on telly here. Still not a big fan.

Re: Bradley Johnson turns down new Leeds Deal
If we are going to chase promotion this season, next season, or any future season; then we will need better players than Johnson...
He is an average player at best. Perhaps a low table championship player at best. He's not a left winger where he seems to play quite a bit. In the centre of the park he blows hot and cold. So personally I wouldn't be too bothered if he left in the summer, or in January.

Re: Bradley Johnson turns down new Leeds Deal
I don't think you can rate him in terms of his ability on the ball. But maybe he is a more effective player than we think. Look at the stats and he provides assists at crucial times and on a regular basis.
Sometimes players improve dramatically with age and experience and we may regret letting him go.

Can see your point, but surely he has to find his position?revieboy wrote:I don't think you can rate him in terms of his ability on the ball. But maybe he is a more effective player than we think. Look at the stats and he provides assists at crucial times and on a regular basis.

He isn't a proper left winger, and he is probably more talented in the centre of the park; but given he doesn't always get a long run in the team in that position, then it will be difficult for him to develop to his full potential. Howson seems to be our regular starter in the centre of the parker and Faye seems to be slowly improving; so if we play 4-4-2 its Howson/Faye, because Howson/Johnson didn't seem to work. So unless we play 4-5-1 and pick Howson/Faye/Johnson, or drop Howson in a 4-4-2 to give Johnson priority in the centre of the park; then I honestly cannot see the lad developing to his full potential at this club.
So it might be a case like you say, we may regret letting him go. But is he really worth a contact with similar terms to our other high earning first team regulars?
Perhaps if he finds his position and begins to show higher level potential then he will be worth it. But if he continues to do as he is, then he isn't really worth it...

Re: Bradley Johnson turns down new Leeds Deal
In the few matches that I've seen, apart from one run that he made into the Cardiff penalty area I have NEVER seen him do much. The shots that he takes are just ridiculous, and like posters before me have said, there are much better players out there.
I definitely won't be disappointed if he leaves.

We won't need him next summer anyway, he's not a premier league player.
