Didn't know you were older than me EY

Agree with you on the antics of the modern footballer, they couldn't hold a candle to John Charles

I was in the doghouse for weeks!

*Burp* I'm sure you can use programs that set them up as and when you want them. So you'd just have to tell Mrs Twiggs she'll have to do without said websites for an hour or so.

Sad reading through this thread. It starts out praising one of the greats, and slowly turns to sh*te.

Oh yeah, and Dave Charles was a top defender

I kid, I kid. There are 3 simple things about the guy.

1 - He was big, strong and could have used these to bully opponents. A lesser man would have.
2 - Due to his inability to play unfairly, he was never booked, choosing to play football rather than box/wrestle.
3 - He scored many goals and is revered in both Italy and the UK. Not many British players can say that (edit, not many players can say that).

Yes its a great pity that to-days players could not conduct themselves in the way he did i know he had money problems at the end but one thing he never lost which was respect which i think is maybe greater than money. When you heard him speak he had full control of the audiance.

I met him quite a few times in the small bar in the commercial when whiplash was the landlord (don't know if he still is being a director and all that) with them both showing a talent for not picking winning horses with the occasional telephone tip from Brian Close also not good value- as stated before - a true gentleman and like many others I regret not seeing him play
