Finally ross shows what he can do.
Best player on the pitch, 100% better than the burned out snoddy - hope he is here next season with showings like that, his last chance on goal, well at least it nearly went in, kinda.
I feel pissed off that he has not had the chances to shine this season.

Re: Finally ross shows what he can do.
If Grayson knew the slightest thing about how to manage a squad, Ross would have played more often and we'd be up in the playoffs.
But no, let's persist with Paynter even though he plays like he has deep-sea diving boots on.
Also, today was his first goal in reality. He scored against Portsmouth, but the ref disallowed it for a foul on the keeper. Then again, that was the referee who was without a doubt heavily biased towards Portsmouth.

Ross played like he was on fast forward, while Billy was on super slo-motion.

Maybe thread title should have been "finally Ross is given a chance to show what he can do?

looked like 442 to me and I know most like this 451 formation but I prefer the balance 442 gives us. McCormack needs to play off someone like Becchio or Paynter and I'm happy to keep BP here next season to spell Lucci. lets sort out the Defence and midfield first in the summer. I think the 4 forwards are just fine

Re: Finally ross shows what he can do.
Very true, surely watching the team train Larry could see that ross has something that would add to the team. He gave him no chance to show what he can do which is worrying, along with Nunez I wonder how many other gems we have lying around in the reserves!!Telepres wrote:If Grayson knew the slightest thing about how to manage a squad, Ross would have played more often and we'd be up in the playoffs.

Re: Finally ross shows what he can do.
Looked a different team today with Ross playing. Just begs the question 'why werent we doing this before'.
Ross can be a big part of next season for us, Grayson, you have got to give him more chance now. I would love to see Ross and becchio spear heading a 4 4 2.

Re: Finally ross shows what he can do.
I don't get why Larry continues to play billy the painter. (about as good as one) over Ross. Ive said for a long time Ross should get more chances. I was proved right with his performance.
next season a 442 with Becchio and McCormack will work pretty good I think.
Also I want to bring up Johnson, his tackles were excellent, he really got stuck in, Looking at his performance today I'm now hoping he signs a new contract.

He has 1 in 15 appearences, how many does Somma have? It's a bit like Torres for Chelsea, just without the £50mil signing.. If he goes on at this rate he might have 2 goals for his 30th appearence..

Ross showed us what we have been missing - Ross playing well. If he had [played well] when tried he would have made the side more often. We have one reliable striker - Becchio who is limited in his own way. Paynter is league 1 and will surely be released [he failed in this league before]. Somma got lucky imo and has struggled to score when used since his early purple patch - he's a selfish player as well for me, stands around waiting a great deal. I hope to see a pacey striker arrive [we have missed Beckford I reckon] and would persevere with Ross.
Yesterday we also played a much tighter formation. Two wingers is always one too many in my book. I don't particularly like old fashioned wingers. Too easy to defend against. Generally lack consistency. Make the pitch big and defending hard as a result - games are won and lost in midfield our achilles heel all season. Max is much more than a winger cos he's all over the pitch, fit as a butchers dog and makes/scores his own goals from wide which is different. He is our player of the season. Without snod we played through the middle as well as down the flanks and Ross scored one of the goals of the season as a result. Snod is not fit enough for me. Nowt to do with playing too many games. He just isn't fit enough. A talent for sure but one we can well do without. If we can make money on him we should imo. We need to do everything in our power [within reason] to keep Max.
Saying all of that we have had a cracking season - to come from 3 seasons in Div 3 where we had to rebuild a team and a club to compete with established Championship sides, sides with balloon payments and Norwich who kept their best Champs players is an amazing feat. Bates and Larry together have delivered this season and there is no reason to suspect that we will not continue to improve under their stewardship next season.

Re: Finally ross shows what he can do.
yeah I agree we dont need to use two wingers, Max is the player we need to keep above any other as he can be a star for us for a long time.
It is possible to play with one winger (Max) who can attack down the left, and a more solid pairing in the centre with a conventional right sided player. Gradel is the most versatile player we have due to his pure energy, he is also consistently good in possession with a fantastic first touch.
I would say Max understands what it is to be a Leeds player, he puts in 100 per cent for the shirt. We must keep him at all costs as a sign of our ambition, he also needs to consider if he went to a mid table premiership side what he is going to achieve.

Re: Finally ross shows what he can do.
The formation worked against a pretty poor Burnley but against a better team we'd get found out. If we relied on Max alone as a winger we're also relying on him - just him - to provide service for our strikers. And we all know Max's final ball is poor.revieboy wrote:yeah I agree we dont need to use two wingers, Max is the player we need to keep above any other as he can be a star for us for a long time.

Don't lets forget how devastating and complementary the Snoddy/Max partnership was at points this season. A real mix of skills and strengths.
