There is every reason not to go out and buy 2 or 3 players - hotels cost a lot of money to build you know!

We have already signalled that we're looking for free transfers and loans, expecting much more than a couple of token middle of the road signings is setting yourself up for disappointment.

I dont see how what they did at the beginning of LAST season is evidence or proof of what our ambitions are THIS season.

Last year, we had no idea if guys like Becchio, Johnson, Howson, Snodgrass, Gradel could cut it at championship level. None of them had played above League One (for very long, anyway). It's easy for us to say "just add someone here, and make a little tweak there", but if Simon had bought in 4x million pound players and all the existing guys turned out to be out of their depth and we were relegated, the club would have looked pretty damn silly, wouldnt they?

What they needed to do was build a strong SQUAD of players with championship experience, with a bit of depth... and now they've done that..

We now KNOW that all it will take is a few good additions in the right positions and we can be a force in this division, but last season.... as i said.... although we might have THOUGHT our men could make the grade, we didnt KNOW if they could or not.

Apparently we held talks with the defender McAuley from Ipswich and he wanted to come but we offered him less wages. So hes gone to West Brom now.

Not exactly a rumour, but Jedinak would provide the steal and muscle in midfield that we have been missing for a long time. Plus he just secured a release from his side in Turkey so Ken would love it!
