French Film festival about to start here. I have tickets to seven movies in all having missed out on a couple of sold-out ones. Can't wait. I really enjoy the festival.

Anyone seen the film 'Insidious' yet ? quite scary, this is played in a surreal scene where the 'demon' is sharpening his fingernails.

Re: O/T - The movies / Television thread
Seriously bored with the new season still weeks away ! How about recalling your 5 favourite scenes from the movies ? My Dad and I used to talk regularly about film and I recall something he said to me once . If you can recall 5 scenes/moments in a film immediately ,almost without thinking about it, the movie is probably a great one . If you have to really think about it , the film probably wasn't that memorable . With that in mind , I gave myself 30 seconds to name my 5 favourite movie scenes . It came out in the following order
1. The wedding scene in the opening to The Godfather .
2. The car chase in Bullitt .
3. Newman / Redford escaping their pursuers in Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid
4. " You can't HANDLE the truth ! " Court room scene from A Few Good Men
5. Kate Hudson dancing in a deserted theatre in Almost Famous .Beautiful . See below .
They're not necessarily my top movies of all time ( although I like all of them) and I was suprised that other brilliant scenes came to me later , such as De Niro / Pacino having a coffee together in Heat or Judy Garland stepping out into a gloriously technicolor Oz , but , I guess these scenes must have stuck in my memory to be trotted out by my subconscious first . Try it !

I'll play!
Off the top of my head:
Wild at Heart (Lynch), where the bank clerk has his hand shot off and a dog runs off with it. plus dozens of other scenes from this, my favourite Lynch film.
Pulp Fiction - the big mac discussion
The Graduate - "jeesus christ..Mrs Robinson"!
Waynes World - the car scene with Bohemian Rhapsody
Easy Rider - the trippy graveyard scene
Not exactly classic movies...but the first scenes that came to mind.
Good topic!

anyway for those who haven't seen ghost dog way of the samurai don't get put off by the title. Jarmusch is a genius and this is one of the finest films ever made..rent it today

Re: O/T - The movies / Television thread
The scene where she plays the piano on the beach in The Piano
The scene where fiona is cleaning the cottage in The Secret of Roan Inish
The scene where Rupert Everett's character refuses to admit he has feeling for the character played by Minnie Driver in the movie An Ideal Husband
The scene where Fergus and Marie catch eyes as all the boys accidentally give the girls a full monty in The War of the Buttons
The little girl's red coat in Schindler's List.
3 out of 5 have heart wrenching soundtracks too.

Fav scenes?
From the top of my head...
Maximus: At my signal, unleash hell.
They live - Grocery store.
Kill bill 2, when Uma walk's over from the graveyard where she was just burried.
Red dwarf - when they glue eye balls to their chins - and Lister claims he is vindaloo master.
