Even the King Brothers in Emmerdale - as I posted on another thread - can bleedin' see it. Ken could have marketed the back 4 (collectively) as a rival to Emmental last season.

Remembering of course without Beckford's goals we would still be in League One now !

It was an analogy and not personal beyond you saying regularly that you own your own business. Do you spend money you don't have? If not why would the LUFC board was my simple point? You believe we pay really poor wages. A million pound striker would not come for poor wages. So we have to break our salary cap and having done that others would want parity like BJ [allegedly]. The spiral would once again be in full swing. You would be happy. Promotion would still not be assured and I would be depressed because previous lessons have been ignored.

The stand thing is a red herring of no consequence. We can have both - we choose not to. Capital spending which generates guaranteed income is in no way comparable to speculative spending on assets which may well drop in price.

Beckford of course cost about 2 bob. An example which supports LUFCs strategy not yours funnily enough.

Jose won the champions league with Porto despite having the weakest squad in the last 4 or 8. Was this luck? Blackpool found themselves in the Prem with a weak squad [built on Larry's foundations]. You think coaching doesn't matter? Larry [coach and team builder] inherited an unbalanced squad. Simply sorting out the imbalance and sorting out tactics/coaching is likely to improve performances. My foot I think is free from wounds. Emmerdale though is no place for football thinkers any more than the NOTW was the place for integrity. Our biggest problem is injuries not shortage of quality. Injuries will make or break us I fear.

Yes but Beckford was allowed to develope his career at lower level football as did Becchio,both playing two or three seasons in L1 with Leeds.

The championship is a different level & finding another Beckford & expecting a lower league player to be an instant success in the champs would be a very difficult acquistion to find.

If, like me, you believe we over achieved last season with an unbalanced squad then the case for coaching has been made. 64 regularly suggests that I suggested we needed a defensive coach. I never did although I did suggest that Larry could perhaps have chosen a better sidekick than Snodin remembering that Parkes was his No. 2 at Blackpool and he knows how to set a team up to defend and probably provided a less emotional foil than Snodin. Who knows? I think our manager/coaches have done really well all in all.

Don't get your post Joe? I am not "pro Bates" and I doubt that WR is either? We just accept that we are better off since he took over, than before...
1) We still HAVE a club to support (or your new tattoo would have been pointless)
2) LUFC is financially stable.

But WR and I have been banging on for over a year now, that Glyn Laurel and Dusty Hardy are a freaking joke as coaches. As well as Beesley - who could turn Casillas, Buffon and Valdes into reject keepers for Farsley Celtic.

Replace the Snodin/Miller chuckle brothers with Eddie Gray and Beesley with Nigel Martyn.

from what Lita has show the last 3-4 seasons, he is not worth anything like 15000 a week. MAkes me proud that our club does not do stupid deals like this
