Suspensions

Post by Martyn »

According to the FA Discipline Handbook http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/~/media/F3F0 ... 011-12.pdf

it seems that suspensions start 21 days after the offence - is that really the case?

When I was involved in the semi-pro league over here a red card was an auto 1 match ban followed by a suspension after the Disciplinary Committe met. A culmination of yellows only had an effect after said meeting.
Beware the fury of a patient man - John Dryden.

That appears to apply to football clubs playing under county associations. Would that apply to the Championship etc. It talks about Saturday, Sunday etc matches as though they are different competitions which doesn't apply to the Championship which doesn't have a different competition for different days. Also it applies to picking up a number of yellow cards over a period 5/10/15 and not send-offs. But the big thing is that I don't think it applies to the Championship. However I haven't read every word of the document.

the referee should have gone to specsavers.
No, Howson didn't touch him and the ref originally gave Leeds a freekick for the dive - but was over ruled by the 4th official, who was 60 yards away.

But I guess karma got Howson back, for his dive that got the boro player sent off.

My understanding from reading these rules is that Gradel and Howson will be suspended for one game which will be the home game against Palace on Saturday 10th September.

Gino -- I think your new sig is quality -- it was high time you nixed the ranting floor-pounder. That said, I hope the forum bully from the South didn't pressure you into doing anything against your will. He is a sinister chap and will stop at nothing to exercise dominance over the whole of this forum. Your ironic step of replacing an "emoticon" with another emoticon (referencing the prohibition of emoticons) is quite clever -- I just hope you don't feel like you had to buckle under to the rants of a heavy-handed manipulator just because he claims to be the Word of Dog.

WHY have you got Harry Redknapp as your new avatar, Paul?
Won't go down well. Didn't he once have something to to with chelsea? Oh yes. He was linked with them...once.
Still, that's enough for the "get the chelsea out of Leeds" brigade....they'll be shouting it at our players, the next time we play in the all blue away strip.

Actually, wrong document I think. I think it is in fact the next game against Hull that both players are suspended for. I can't see where it says officially that it is a 1 match ban and I'm too tired to look (been looking after 6 boys who are 6 years old and under today!). But my reasoning for the next match is derived from following the trail below:

http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/RulesandRegulations

Link to "The FA Handbook 2011-12"

Section: FIELD OFFENCES & FAST TRACK, SECTION A
DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES CONCERNING FIELD OFFENCES in First Team Competitive Matches
(FTCM) FOR PLAYERS AND OFFICIALS OF CLUBS OF The FA Premier League, Football League. the
Football Conference National Division and The FA WSL.

8. PUNISHMENTS – Relating to First Team Competitive Matches
(a) CAUTIONS ADMINISTERED ON THE FIELD OF PLAY
(viii) Any period of suspension arising from cautions will commence forthwith. The
suspension will cover all approved First Team matches until such time as his Club’s
First Team has completed the number of matches appropriate to the punishment

in approved Competitions during the period covered by its opening league match
and ending with the fi nal match in which the Club is playing in an approved
domestic Competition.

(b) PLAYERS SENT OFF UNDER LAW 12 (7)
A Player who is dismissed from the Field of Play for receiving a second caution in the same
match will be suspended automatically from FTCM commencing forthwith, until such time
as his Club’s First Team has completed its next FTCM.

12. DISCIPLINARY ACTION ON CLUBS FOR MISCONDUCT BY THEIR PLAYERS
