Brilliant result and sounds like some good performances out there tonight. It will be interesting to see what Grayson does for the West Ham game. Can't wait to hear the feedback and ratings of the people who went to the game....

Exactly what I would do, shows incentive to the young lads that they can break into the first team and will motivate them and might teach gradel a lesson, we all know how close his temper came to ruining a season for us all!faaip wrote:

Would be a little harsh on howson tho since he was pretty much a victim of a bent ref! imo of course ;)

Amazing win!
Defence so solid, Hull kept on trying to break us down but couldn't. THE DEFENCE IS ACTUALLY SORTED!
Tom Lee's is so good he can score for both team's, what a player! great performance by him, and amazing finish for the goal.
Keogh is like Alan smith of old days, Works very very hard.
Everyone played amazing tonight, Massive Dilemma now with Gradel & Howson, do you change it? it's tricky.
Let's destory West Ham now.
Leeds are back! WAGU WAGU!

I wouldnt get too excited - after all it was only Hull - West Ham away will be a totally different matter altogether. They won 4-0 away to Watford tonight.

It's a bloody tough one..
4-4-2 with Brown and Clayton in the guts could just work, but away at West Ham is probably the single most difficult fixture we will play this season, so the extra body in midfield might be for the best...
I'm glad i dont have to make the decision...
I think if it was me i'd probably go 4-5-1 with Keogh up top, Howson and Gradel back in, but definitley pick the same back line..

Same as you mate 451 with Keogh not Mccormack, i like Mccormack just dont think he can do it on his own, (well hes showed that) especially against West Ham. So Howson in for Mccormack.
Only thing is i would keep Nunez and leave Gradel on the bench, think Nunez has the same attributes as Gradel but has better quality.

Re: Codheads on Tuesday - pre thoughts, and game ratings lat
The 4-4-2 worked well with Keogh winning most stuff, holding the ball well, passing well and McCormack thrived playing off him. That partnership really worked so for me we have to stick with 4-4-2.
The dilema is then does Gradel come back in for Nunez? I think no. Nunez workes hard, has great control, takes men on and has scored now.
Does Howson get back in? For me Clayton is the heartbeat of the team at the moment but Brown did little. I'm tempted to play Jonny and Clayton in midfield and ask one of them to sit a little.

Clayton is so dynamic, i think he can play with Howson and let Jonny have the freedom to be inventive and maybe get more shots in. Jonny is such a good striker of the ball but he doesnt get shot opportunites often enough, Clayton will also offer that attacking threat. With a good player in Keogh to hold things up it will allow the midfield to advance, so we won't miss Becchio as much.
I am a big fan of Nunez, hes a talented player with that South American style, but are you sure he works harder than Gradel?. I'd still stick with Max, but Ramon gives us the option to play him in place of Howson, Max or Snoddy. Once Nunez gets used to the physicality of the Championship he will be even better.

No, Nunez doesnt work as hard as Max but who on the pitch apart from Clayton does? The defence is stronger now, they need less protection so maybe give Nunez a go. If were picking players on workrate alone then maybe we should question Snoddys selection?revieboy wrote:I am a big fan of Nunez, hes a talented player with that South American style, but are you sure he works harder than Gradel?. What a difference o'dea makes...... geddit?
Couldn't resist that one, seriously though, thought him and Paddy were class tonight, looked organised a unit in the middle against the different types of forwards Hull had on. Paddy did well against that big adebola at the end, completely owned him. Lees and White a little tetchy at times but still good all round and so refreshing to have two young Leeds lads starting!!
Clayton again absolute class, as was Nunez and i though Snodds looked backed to form as well, really dangerous when running at that defence.
Keogh did well and worked really hard, and confirmed what many of us have been saying for a while, Ross needs someone to play off.
Oh and Lonegran was class again, complete control of his six yard box, few great takes and punches and one absolute worldy from a close range header.....
Downsides - thought Brown was sluggish, missed a few challenges and but generally ok
And to those who say it's only Hull, Koren - highly related midfield general was no where to be seen V Clayton. likewise with their strikers who last season scored bucket loads between them. last year we threw away a lead to draw this game 2-2, this year we owned them.
Andy 8
Lees 7 Paddy 9 O'dea 7 White 7
Snodgrass 8 Brown 6 Clayton 9 Nunez 8
Ross 8 Keogh 8

Nunez now has 3 goals in 2 games. When Somma did that last season we were all clamouring for him to start every match...

Nothing against Nunez, because i think he's playing really well... but Max Gradel has been one of our best players for 2 seasons running and i think he deserves to slot back in to the side... and if anything i'd say Max will be trying even harder to make sure he keeps his spot...

Nunez leaves his full back exposed and loses the ball a lot in midfield which aint good. I think he may find himself on the bench at the weekend. Somma has major faults too and I never clamoured. Great result tonight. Keogh the catalyst. Ross excellent. I did say that this was a better side than last season to some ridicule from 64 and others but it is. Brown by the way made goal 4 with some excellent work in midfield.
We are still hopeless at defending when we are attacking - exciting though eh?
Bates out 0.30 seconds at 2 : 1, at 3 : 1 and at 4 : 1 - what a waste of energy. We have made no signings but only 1 player on the field tonight was a regular last year. The difference between Lonnergan and Kasper is night and day - sorry MOT essayist but you are so wrong on this one. A masterstroke by Larry. Ross is now playing to his potential. Clayton - bought, nurtured and delivering. O'Dea and Kis sound as a £ at CB - O'Dea is a big hard so and so I reckon. Lees is as little cracker.
I never get carried away - one way or t'other - but that was a great night. Well done LUFC.

From the radio, we sounded very bright and sharp, with lightning quick attacks. Keogh sounded like he'd been playing with the side for years, and seems to be the perfect fit, our missing link, maybe, maybe, even better than Becchio? (ducks as BB storms out of the shed) Really interested to see how Brown develops in the side, now with a few matches under his belt. It's been quite awhile to have a team play solid defense and play a whole 90 minutes + without the usual lapses. Think the WH match will be quite a decent match, and see no reason why we can't take 3 points off them.
