Re: Team Lineups ratings etc vs Hammers
A brilliant performance I am now a lot more confident about our top 6 chances
Kis made couple of errors but overall him and odea handled two international strikers pretty well
Clayton is a class act a proper midfielder box to box hard tackling and creative
Wingers were busy and caused problems
McCormack class again running off the ball best in league
Keough a good target man( till becchio returns)
Only bad point today
Howson
Doesn't look same player this season
Also still worried about strength in depth
Not certain Nunez and Sam are the answer
Well done lads a proper Leeds utd performance plenty of heart

Lost for words.. i'm drained. That last goal was one of the best moment's for years! Clayton is an amazing player.
Everyone did us proud today and we SHOULD be challenging for the title this season no doubt about it.
COME ON LEEDS WAGU WAGU WAGU!
I loved the way Clayton played, he not only broke up play but also created a few chances. His all round game is brilliant and he capped that with a great finish after Howsons great attempt.
I think we can go up and if we had Becchio or Somma we may have won today!

magnificent performance today, full of spirit and skill. We kept it on the floor and dominated a team full of internationals. Clayton is fast becoming one of my favourite players, the way he arrived late in the box to thunder that goal home reminded me of Bowyer at his best. Tigerish, skilful, committed.
If they keep that spirit we'll be fine this year.

I saw the Italian Stallion there checking out Scotty Parker et al. What chances he's had his eyes opened to the new Cyclone that is Adam Clayton?

What a performance from the lads. Not sure we got what we deserved, we should have had 3 points - no doubt about it...
Good to see some stability in the side, with that comes confidence. Lonergan was awesome - made a couple of sweet reflex saves which kept us in it @ 2-1 down... Clayton had Parker and Nolan in his pocket... So many positives to take away from that performance, roll on Ipswich next sat...
Happy days, MOT

Re: Team Lineups ratings etc vs Hammers
I was extremely happy to see how we played going forward - can only echo the praise of young Clayton, outstanding and Max was superb at times ( bad pen however ) and I thought the front two worked very well. Some of the attacking flair was awesome at times.
HOWEVER and I hate to bring some gloom to what is generally a very pleasing performance.......I am still fearful that our defensive frailties of last year are still with us, even with change of personnel at back. We were all over the place at crosses and corners again today. If we want to make this season a success we have to start defending better as a unit - Lonegran certainly looks the part so far but we need Paddy and co to start helping us get some clean sheets.
Anyway, lets finish on a positive note.......Adam Clayton - ran the show - Scott who ?!!

Yep - only tractor boys have conceded more this season - although I think we are 4th highest scorers.Gurj wrote:

Excellent all round team performance. We aren't that poor at the back, only look it as we try to go forward so much. Lonergan is so much better than kasper great bit of business, even better if we saw the money been spent on the sqaud.
Had a few dodgy moments but forgot players such as nolan, matty taylor and noble were on the pitch at times.
Not going to get carried away just yet and say the title is ours but we will not struggle, another good winning run at some point in the season will see us challanging for the play offs.
Look at the players who didn't start today, not saying they are world beaters but very good sqaud players who will do a job when needed. ( rach, cons, ob, brom, parker, sam, bruce, brown, nunez, becs, somma)
lons 9
lees 7
kis 7
o'd 8
white 8
snods 7
howson 6
clay 8
max 7
mac 8
keogh 7
we all love leeds.

Re: Team Lineups ratings etc vs Hammers
Clayton - what a great player. I thought it was going to take a big signing from the premiership to improve the quality in the team beyond Becchio/Snodgrass/Gradel...but it came in the form of Clayton. Not only does the guy constantly work hard but his pass success rate must be the highest in the league. Truly exciting player to have on the team.
Lonergan - I haven't criticized Grayson much at all but when I heard he sold Kasper (to leicester of all places) I was livid and thought the team was moving backwards and Snodgrass or Gradel would surely follow. Looking back, he is a keeper for the future and has way too much to learn to be of any use to us as a main keeper. Excellent business by Grayson, I'll admit.
Lees - He was at fault but its his 3rd senior game for Leeds and I dont think many defenders would be prepared for the leg wrap goal that Cole pulled off. It was a clever move by Cole and you can't fault Lees too much.
Snodgrass/Howson - Can't help but feel if these two guys had have put that bit more in, we would have walked away with the full 3 points.Snoddy looked increasingly angry when his crosses from corners and during play werent being met but what can he expect when our team lack the height. Keogh and McCormack also arent used to getting into the right spaces as Becchio would be.
Gradel - Got to greedy today I'm afraid. I love his runs but he shouldnt be doing it alone when there are other options. I also feel he shouldn't be taking penalties. He seems too passionate, or emotionally involved, to attack it with a clear head. I'm definately not saying passion is a bad thing (if only more of our players showed it) but I think someone who can control their nerves better would have been a better option...although its always easy to say that in hindsight.
Overall performance - It was good to see that the players never let their head drop. Being away from home, going a goal behind, missing a penalty, conceding an own goal... there were times last year when the morale of the team wouldn't have carried on the way they did. Playing the way we did against West Ham was deserving of more than a point, but I'm more than happy with the performance.
