Let's See Action - Please!
44 years is a heck of a long time to support a football club and of course in my case, Leeds United. When there was the very real danger not so long ago that our club may cease to exist I began to wonder that if that did happen, could I support another team? Having looked at all the leagues it only took a matter of a minute or so to come up with the answer, NO!!!
As each new season dawns and as I get longer in the tooth I vow to myself that I will not let the performance of my team affect me. But as you will all know, this is impossible. They say you can divorce your wife but NEVER your club!
Leeds United always promise so much and yet nearly always fail to deliver. Surely it can't all be down to bad luck? When I look back at the 1970 FA Cup Final, the European Cup Final, etc.........so many disappointments. The hurt does not go away. It is called PASSION.
This season has started very poorly. We are already way adrift of the leaders in the Championship. Something MUST HAPPEN very soon otherwise we will just have another ordinary season with the odd bit of enjoyment here and there. I don't have the answers but new manager and coaching staff, new players (even decent loans and there are plenty avaialble), a take over and huge injection of cash..................who knows!!!!!
ONWARDS AND UPWARDS AND KEEPING THE FAITH!

Do I take it you are suggesting we change the manager/coaching staff, most of our players and find a new investor before the close of the transfer window.

I find as I get older I cope much better with LUFC setbacks. It's a long time since we've had anything resembling an ordinary season at ER I think and last year was anything but ordinary - exciting and enjoyable. Too early to panic and if we ever change the manager the next one has to be 'the one'. There are few of those about and truth be told few [if any] better than Larry at this level. Lot's to look forward to. All will yet be well imo. It would help though if fans chose not to eat the manager. We eat them faster than most and having digested them we find that things are often worse, not better. I don't have the stomach for indigestion just now thanks very much.

Difficult situation to work out. I don't think that larry has the techy ability to go further. However, I'm not advocating getting rid at present. There seems to be a huge lack of passion at all stages with the club. Owner, coaches and players. IMO until that's sorted then were going to remain static.

I find that as a fan I can cope with the disappointments by finding solace in Hampshire CCC and The Oakland Raiders........

I would agree with you there, Riotwhite.riot wrote:I find as I get older I cope much better with LUFC setbacks. I wouldnt swap Larry for any othet manager in this division. There are a few pretenders in there at Reading, Hull etc, a few has beens- Sven. Mclaren, and one or two up and comings at Burnley and Brighton (both need to be tested for a full season at this level yet).
For me the only fella who come close to Larry is Adkins at Saints, seems very canny (and decent) bloke

I suspect there'll be six happier managers than Larry come the final league game of the season !revie-era wrote:

So you have us as 7th this year - an improvement on your prediction last year which suggests you agree that this team is better than last years? Just out of interest, in all your years of watching LUFC, did you ever predict anything good for LUFC mate

I predicted mid table mediocrity, but I think we'll struggle to get even that.white.riot wrote:

Leeds United have always been unpredictable but i always thought we would win every gamewhite.riot wrote:

I reckon my lack of expectation was seeded when we were beaten at places such as Cheltenham, Northampton, Hereford, the final straw being our embarrassing defeat at Histon, has to go down as our lowest ebb in the history of LU. From then on i turned to wife in tears & said i'm never going allow Leeds United to tear me apart again ! my expectations are far lower thesedays therefore any disappointment is lessened somewhat & on the other side of the coin days such as Bristol Rovers was a bonus !
I still have the same desire & passion when supporting my beloved Leeds but my emotions are tempered & my mood remains the same. I have my Sussex friend who rings me after every game, when we lose he sounds suicidal, his emotions are far different to mine
Yes our first eleven is better than last season's team, still unsure where we are going to finish in the league come the final day of the season
