Leeds v Scum team/ratings/etc
Will Larry go for broke & play his best available eleven available or play a weakened team as he did in the Bradford/Donny cup-ties, bearing in mind a far more important game at Brighton on Friday night long trip too.
I reckon Larry will opt for the latter
Rachubka
Connolly Bromby O'Dea White
Brown Vayrynen
Sam Howson Nunez
Becchio
Subs : Lonergan Lees Clayton Snoddy McCormack Forssell Keogh

Re: Leeds v Scum team/ratings/etc
such a difficult decision to make. Like you say 64, more important game coming up on friday but even so the players will want to play in this game so much. I would make a few changes but not many.
Lonergan
Lees Bromby O'Dea White
Snoddy Vayrynen Clayton Nunez
Becchio McCormack
Subs Rachubka Bruce Taylor Sam Howson Forssell Keogh

Forgot about our new Finn, he will make his debut tonight that's for sure !ldj90 wrote:such a difficult decision to make. Like you say 64, more important game coming up on friday but even so the players will want to play in this game so much. I would make a few changes but not many.

I reckon Larry will start with O'Dea, White & Howson only from the starting eleven v Bristol City & play five in midfield with Becchio upfront & Nunez supporting him
Clayton took a couple of hefty challenges on Saturday, will save him for Friday i feel

I can't see LB starting tonight.
Plus you HAVE to play RmC with the form he is in.

Lonners
Lees-Bromby-O'Dea-White
Brown
Snoddy-Vayrynen-Sam
Howson
Becchio
Subs: Chubby, Conns, Clayton, Nunez, Keogh, McCormack, Forssell
5 in midfield with Brown not straying far from the defence, allowing them to sit slightly deeper and hopefully not get caught napping again. Howson in his preferred free role, with Becchio up there to latch onto any crosses/long balls.
McCormack's league form is exactly why he shouldn't play! Far too important for us at the moment to be wasted on a 'pointless' cup tie!
Reckon it's important for Larry to play Academy/Leeds lads in there as they will have most desire to do over Scum.
Going to be exciting, whatever the outcome... MOT!

Lonergan
Connolly - O'Dea - Bromby - White
Brown - Varyren
Sam - Howson - Nunez
Forssell
Subs: Rachubka, McCormack, AOB, Clayton, Taylor, Lees, Keogh
I'd play Brown for his old head and big game experience, also on the assumption that he's trained well since the Palace game. If he's still struggling with injury I'd change the formation, possibly bringing Keogh in and reverting to a 4-4-2. No way we should be risking Clayton, Becchio, or Snoddy in this game.

I know its not really an important game in terms of priority, but in terms of pride - this is massive!
Im worried that if Grayson doesnt pick his strongest squad, we could be utterly humiliated.
Although i agree with a previous post about playing more academy players, because it will mean more to them...
My choice:
Lonergan
Connolly Lees Bromby White
Snodgrass Howson Clayton Keogh
McCormack Becchio
Subs: Rachubka Bruce Taylor Brown Sam Nunez Forssell
Im not sure if we will see Vayrynen as it seems Larry is introducing him to the English game slowly, and facing manure for his first taste of english football might be a bit much to ask of him...
Either way, i just hope Leeds arent slaughtered tonight.

Re: Leeds v Scum team/ratings/etc
It a tricky one... but i think if we want to win this one we have to field a winning side. So as long as all the payers are 100% fit i would field our best side possible... Why the f**k not.. unless we just don't want to risk any injuries for Friday. Well then we should play a reserve team like Man U will. Its just the Carling Cup and we should treat it like another cup game and focus on promotion.
I would have a mixed bench for the second half. Some young and fringe players just for the experience and energy and maybe players that can benefit from coming on late for match fitness... Luccio on bench for last 20 minutes... and Mika Vayrynen
We are going to be doing alot of running in midfield trying to get the ball which concerns me for Fridays game... I see this a an opportuntiy to give our players a taste of another big game...it adds 2-fold to a players experience and keep our back four unchanged...
Lonners, Lees, O'Dea, Andy O'Brien, White, Snodders, Clayton, Howson, Sam, MCcormick, Keogh. ON the bench, Becchio, Taylor, Rachubka, Connolly, Nunez...
Wish I could be there...

Play our strongest side, just pick the strongest from those 100% fit.

Re: Leeds v Scum team/ratings/etc
Lonergan, Clayton, Snoddy & the departed Gradel were all on the bench v Donny in the last round
Lees was rested
Keogh & McCormack only played because we had no other options
Only Howson & McCormack of our six star players played
Really can't see the point of risking a potential serious injury especially with the rivalry between the two teams, could be a few late tackles flying around tonight
I for one wouldn't risk McCormack or Clayton. I only put Howson in my possible team because he has played in both of our league cup ties, mindst with the arrival of the Mika Finn & Brown back to some sort of fitness, don't be surprised if Jonny is rested too !

There should be no resting and holding players out, especially as this is at home. Simon should put his strongest lineup on the pitch.
