If Newcastle do make the CL,which looks likely then they are going to be looking at better than White and Bolton will be in the Championship next year so if he only wants to leave for prem football that won't happen either.Genghers wrote: Another big young CB. Aidy White being linked with Newcastle and Bolton this morning... Lets just hope that he's made a decision already!

Don't know mate, just reported that he thought his days were numbered as he'd fallen out of favour with Hughes. Supposedly Reading are aso keen, so that probably puts us out of the running anyway.Genghers wrote: Another big young CB. Regarding Aidy, Newcastle seems a big jump for him given how they, and more pertinently, he has done this season. For me, he has plenty of pace but not a lot of end product. In fairness, wherever he is next season, his manager needs to decide on his best position and play him there consistently. As for Bolton, I've a feeling we'll probably be playing them next year so that's not much of a move for the lad, if he's rejected our latest offer

Re: Transfer Rumours: Summer 2012
Aye indeed, I was just putting it out there.
Agree that he's been played in too many different positions so far, though I think that's due to him not being the greatest tackler or the best crosser/finisher so he's a bit stuck between the two.
If he learns to stick a good cross in when he gets to the byline then he'd be a great asset to any club given his pace. I'd like to see him here next season, can't see him going to Bolton if they come down and can't see Newcastle needing him particularly (though I'm sure he'd do ok in the Prem with the right coaching, and they'll need a decent sized squad as they're in Europe).
We'll have to see, but I do think it's important to have some academy products in the team!

Spot on, otherwise our academy becomes an incubator for other clubs and we fail to attract potential if the impression is that you'll never get anywhere near the first team on anything like a regular basis.Genghers wrote:Aye indeed, I was just putting it out there.

Re: Transfer Rumours: Summer 2012
I am biased as I love to see Norn Irish players sign for us (although the last couple have been psh poor as many of us knew they would) I would still like to see us sign Clingan.
Didn't have the best season with Cov but he is free and is a better option than Brown.
Cov fans dislike him as he has not signed a new deal.

Every game I predict a 3 - 1 Leeds win, I am traditional like that.

Re: Transfer Rumours: Summer 2012
My Cov mate really rates him, reckons he could have gone to a Prem club a couple of seasons ago. I think we may have been in for him over Summer, but couldn't stump up the cash. I wouldn't mind him coming tbh, would be a good replacement for Brown and if we had Paul Green as well then our midfield would look pretty tough. Would like another youngish player in there too though...mav wrote:I am biased as I love to see Norn Irish players sign for us (although the last couple have been psh poor as many of us knew they would) I would still like to see us sign Clingan.

Re: Transfer Rumours: Summer 2012
Bit disappointed to see o'dea go as he would have been a good signing considering he's a free agent and wouldnt cost anything.
I'd like to see Cranie from Coventry play for us, i think in a good team he would be a good player; he's not a League 1 player in my eyes.
Clingan is good for us at international level and the side misses him when he doesnt play, another player id like to see at us, sounds stupid suggesting players from a side the went down in this league but they are two good players that should not be playing in League 1.

anyone able to put up a list of out of contract players in championship or premier league, sounds very bates minded going on about free agents but sometimes there are a number of decent players in there. like last season with reo coeker etc.

Just a random name, contract expires on the 5th May 2012, fully fit and has got over injuries, young enough to learn and has a good pedigree... Giles Barnes - Freebie?? Ideas?

Agree however he is not a Poor player and if you put him in the right team then he may be a success, we are going to get quite a few players from relegated teams imo, Jason Pearce, David Norris, Josh Walker, Paul Green etc they are all with s**t/relegation teams....GlennLUFC wrote:

Anyone seen much of Marko Futacs?

Re: Transfer Rumours: Summer 2012
only from fifa really, he was ok at werder bremen but never played much, read somewhere he scored two goals in 4 games against opposition like wolfsburg.
poor for portsmouth because you could count his goals this season on one hand.

The Sun claims Jason Pearce has signed a pre-contract. Good player in a (perhaps unluckily) relegated side, or no better than what we have?
