The fact they actually clearly state a sale sets off alarm bells. Is it investment or just a ground naming deal?

Because he can't afford to buy Leeds because bates has an unrealistic idea of what the club is worth. In the state he's left it it's worth knack all, due to the amount of money it will take to recover from the crap. Shut down all the satellite businesses, cover any outgoings for their start ups, buy back the ground and TA, get a promotion capable squad together...

Leeds in it's current state isn't worth more than about £40 million tops considering it'll cost upwards of £30 million just to sort out the horrible mess that bates has left, but bates is probably asking for somewhere near £90 million as has been reported previously.

Again, it could be the complete opposite.... Leeds might actually be in a decent financial state, which is why Bates is RIGHTFULLY asking for more...

Forest is in debt... lots of it..... whoever takes them on will have to take the debt on, but the actual up front, cash price will be much much much much less.

That's just a guess, but so is your interpretation

*Edit - a quick google gives us a sum of £75.6m owed to the late Nigel Doughty [and now to his family, i guess]

It's sounding more likely it is a take-over rather than just an investment. In his article in YEP today, Lorimer talks about investment first, but then near the end of his article "I’m sure that one of their main concerns would be making sure that when the club passes on to new owners, those owners are able to take the club forward and look after us in the long term."

Apparently he's not that rich. He's publicly stated he can't afford to buy Leeds.

Either way, I think it's naive to assume we're in a great financial state with the only basis being the dodgy accounts from last year.

And we all know Leeds is worth less on account of the fact that anybody who buys the club is likely to get caught up in the mess of shell companies bates uses to hold onto everything and (somehow legally) steal money off people.

Why the hell don't the government try and close these stupid loopholes instead of pissing around trying to lower taxes for the incredibly rich?

He made a public statement saying "I'd buy Leeds if I could afford it", which is what I've been going on.
