Re: Snodgrass
Im not bothered at all by this, he was slow on the wing and very predicatable. Warnock wanted to work the team around him in a position he was even worse at in the hole. Ive said for ages Mccormack should be the person in the hole. Better control, vision, and an alround better player in that position. Just give the man in the hole position to mccormack and spend the 3 mill on a decent right back, winger & striker!

Re: Snodgrass
Do you really thinking we can get a decent right back, winger and striker for £3m ?!
It costs £3m to get one player who is real quality let alone get 3 for that money !
I know people take the siege mentality when a player chooses to leave LUFC but I for one can't agree with the " he was crap anyway " some are taking ! Let's get real !!
He wasn't crap - he was one of two or three max real quality players we had and just like Jermaine, Max and Howson we will really struggle to replace him !!

Re: Snodgrass
Shame to see our most over-rated player leave, but his crossing when played on the wing was inconsistent at best.
Not bad when played in the middle, but i don't think we'll miss him as much as people seem to think.
I wonder where Norwich or West Ham will play him?
If we want a player in the hole to link up midfield and attack, either bring Gradel back, or give Sanchez Payne a go there in pre-season while looking for a replacement. We might not need one if Sanchez does well.

Re: Snodgrass
No but it can contribute to the amount needed. If we sign Peltier for 600k we would have 2.4mill left on two players plus whatever can be added by whoever is in charge. Beckford for example if he is out of leicesters pecking order wouldnt cost as much as they paid for him which is 2.5mill, someone could probably snap him up for 1.5 mill. Leaving 900k on a winger plus any extras from investers etc.Gurj wrote:Do you really thinking we can get a decent right back, winger and striker for £3m ?!

Once again we are a club who cant hold on to its best players it started with the likes of Woodgate,Ferdinand we were told no way would they be sold. Then comes Kilkenny,Johnson,Howson.Gradel,Beckford the list goes on.We are a club that cant match the ambition of the players who next McCormack. What do we end up with a relegated Championships cast offs because they need the money a 34 year in Gray we have offered another old player in Brown a contract. We have got a player from Norwich who they dont want and they have taken three of our better players,The next kick in the teeth for us fans is if the supposed take over fails to go through. We are been made a laughing stock.

Why are you guys saying we need a winger?
We've got White, Varney and Robbie Rodgers. Thats three decent wingers, and i haven't included Sanchez Payne who is nearly ready to burst onto the scene.

Sky Sports reporting it btw
Gutted in that Snoddy has been my favourite player in recent years. However, I must admit that his early success at Leeds may have gone to his head a bit and that his "run through walls for the badge" attitude was less apparent in recent times. Hopefully, we rake in enough cash on this deal to make it a win-win proposition.

Re: Snodgrass
Does anyone think that Snoddy's departure could be down to a possible breakdown in the 'takeover' bid?
Snoddy has repeatedly called for LUFC to match 'his' ambition and with the possibility of a takeover happening that may breath new energy into the club and it's rebuilding process I can't see how it would hurt him in any way to have held back on a move for a little longer - after all Norwich are rumoured to have been interested in him for a while now & are obviously keen to link him up with a his ex-team mates so he's in a win win situation whether he hung around for a few weeks or months should he choose to.
Whether Snoddy is a huge loss... well we've seen them come and go before and they'll be another 'fan' favourite to carry the torch again shortly.
What is more worrying is yet again LUFC are not able to retain good quality players services even amidst possible 'positive' takeover news when the club could move into what could be one of the most exciting periods for it in a long time.

Re: Snodgrass
Personally, I am just so bloody disappointed in Snodgrass........ it seems obvious now that he had no intention on staying, and has just been putting on an act for the fans that he didn't really want to go. He wanted the club to show ambition, and we have (so far) bought eight new players and are selling off the deadwood. He could probably still argue that the class of player the club has bought isn't sufficiently good enough to prove that ambition, but Warnock has said unequivocally the he has bought squad members, and is looking for some quality players for his final 3 or 4 players. With the forthcoming takeover (and I have NO doubt that it is a takeover.... Kuddly has never kept his mouth shut for this long in his life!) there is a very good chance that Warnock will be given some extra funding for player purchase. Snoddy knew all this, but still went ahead, so to my mind he has never been concerned about the club's ambition, it's all about HIS.
While I wish him the best for the future, and thank him for his service at my club, I still feel there is more than a smell of hypocracy about his attitude and reasons for wanting away. I would have far more respect for him if he came out and said that he just wanted a stab at the Premiership and wasn't willing to wait another year for it.
We will survive without RS, and will get better. When he is no longer our player, we can talk openly about his weaknesses and will no longer have any loyalty to him. If we ever play Norwich over the next couple of years, I cannot see him getting the class of reception that Jermaine Beckford got last season.
As I said at the start, I'm disappointed in you Robert, take 10 demerits and bugger off to the Fens, grow webbed feet and have weekly treatment for trenchfoot. The boozers in Norwich are rubbish too!

Rodgers will make the right wing his own.
Sanchez Payne isn't proven yet, but no-one is until they play. You only get the experience by playing.
If he's given a few chances pre-season against the better teams we have to play, we'll get a better idea, but i have a feeling he's going to make the left wing his own in the next year or two. The sooner he gets played there, the sooner he'll gain the experience he'll need in the premier league.

hahahahahaha, what a crock of sh1t!! Yet again a quality player departs and the same old bullsh1t is touted "Well, he was never that good in my opinion"
People laugh at scum fans for EXACTLY that sort of bollocks. Yet again the club has shown that it is consistent and will sell anyone for the proverbial 30 pieces! I don't go to as many games as some on here but each time I have I can honestly say that Snodders has worked his arse off, some times he may have an off day, but in the whole he has been a stalwart of the team. Why the fu*k should he stay when the club has repeatedly let go / sold our best players and used the money, NOT for the squad, but infrastructure? NW may have the backing now of a new owner/s but if not and Bates is splashing the cash are the incoming commited to the club as Snodders was for so long? We'll have to wait and see.
People are banging on about Loyalty and how players don't have it anymore, but answer me this, what loyalty has the club shown it's players during Bates tenure? Quality leaving and zero ambition. Goes both way folks. Added to that the fickle double standards of the fan. Banging on about loyalty when EACH AND EVERYONE here and in the wider world would leave their job for a better paid and better prospects of a new company. I would. It's the way of the world nowadays.

Re: Snodgrass
Like most other people I'm not happy that Snoddy is leaving us, but think of it this way... We're not going to be able to get birlliant quality players in every position, we are a Championship team after all so we need a little realism injecting.
Here's how I see it.
We can either have a midfield with players rated 6/10, 6/10, 6/10 and 8/10,
or
We have a midfield with players who are 7/10, 7/10, 7/10 and 7/10 by using the money from selling the 8/10 who has been underperforming and would have left for nothing in 12 months anyway.
Personally I prefer the second option. It makes for a more solid and balanced midfield with equal threat from all four players. Defences will no longer know that we will try and get the ball to one player, nor will they be able to outman that player and mark him out the game in the safe knowledge that the other threats are less likely to cause damage and can be afforded a little less protection. Additionally it opens up a whole new level in fluidity in our game as a team (rather than over-reliance on one player) and gives us so many more options for attacking plays. Warnock is buying in some players who I feel will do a job at this level and he is buying them all over the field, excepting the strikers at time of writing. Having balance, options, more varied and less predictable tactics and 'good enough for us at this level'' players all over the field can only be a good thing in my opinion.
So yeah, I would have liked to have kept Snoddy and have him firing on all cylinders for us again, but that was just not an option it seems. I do think that Warnock is doing a very good job in the transfer market that will make up for his loss.
