O/T DIY Thread Merge

Thanks to everyone that shared their opinion on a new phone/tablet.

In the end I purchased today a Samsung Galaxy SIII 32 Gb and an iPad 3 32 Gb wi-fi only - with some judicious shopping around getting me them for @ €940 (£765) total.

Vodafone offered me a phone only deal @ £615 (£500) or a contract @ €45 (£37) over 2 years for LESS minutes and texts and Internet than I currently get for €25 (£20) on a rolling 30 day contract

So I bought an unlocked phone elsewhere for €451 (£367) and picked up the iPad for €490 (£398) compared to the €579 (£470) being asked in the Apple store

So - overall - I have saved quite a few €s (£s).

I'm really chuffed with them and will doubtless be spending long hours getting to grips with all they can do.

Also looking forward to keeping up to date with MOT when out and about, which I could not do on my ancient BlackBerry!

Why you would buy a Samsung phone AND an iPad, if you'd bought an iPhone it would all have synced up together...

Still, enjoy your new toys! (You want the Tapatalk app for MOT access, though on an iPad the Safari browser is actually perfectly adequate)

I need an Android phone to test the digital side of my business (designing web sites for small companies) whereas an iPad serves that function for Apple products.

iPhone 4S was €579 (£471) and iPhone 5 was €679 (£552) - I just felt that the Samsung was better than the 4S - whilst going for the 5 - beautiful though it is - would have cost me another €230 (£187) above the Galaxy.

As regards taxes - well - I will admit to evasion (legal) rather than avoidance (illegal).

And my new toys are tax deductible, too

Other way around, avoidance is legal and evasion is illegal.

The Galaxy S3 is a nice phone, don't get me wrong, but I want a phone, not a mini tablet! The things is way to big for a phone (well imo).

Glad to hear it mate. Theres always a light at the end of the tunnel. Mind you, in my case, its usually a train coming t'other way
