As a fellow radio patron, I agree that an ugly win is as good as a pretty win (as long as you don't have to watch it). However, ugly draws against relegation meat won't do for much longer. I'm hopeful we can hold on to a top ten position until January. By then, under new owners, we'll swoop for the pacey, prolific striker we've coveted and hopefully enough complementary quality to jump start the season and lead us upward. Otherwise, it's gonna be a long second half of the campaign, and season ticket holders will be wishing they could trade place with us lowly radio types. Optimism in the face of sustained mediocrity, that's my mantra.Silky wrote:

but there are times to be gloomy in football, and there are times to enjoy...
I appreciate that the football hasnt been nice for you guys to watch [although i have seen quite a bit of it on the tele this season], but christmas time last year when we're selling all our best players, we're losing game after game, the clubs f#cked, simon's getting the sack.... that's a gloomy time.
right now, things arent perfect but i do think guys like Pearce and Lees and Rudy and Aidy and Byram and Becchio all fight for Leeds week in, week out.... we are hard to beat........ i personally believe that the take over will happen sooner rather than later [because Bates obviously wants out, he wouldnt have gone looking for buyers if he didnt]... and if i can choose between points or performances, i'll have points every time. So from my point of view, i'm enjoying Leeds atm.
In a different era maybe my attitude would be different, but after 10 years away from the premiership, i just wanna see my team back there! i dont care how they go about it......
personally feel the Rudy Austin is the man who makes our side tick. he's apparently been unfit since he got back from Jamaica so the midweek rest will have done him good.
A win for Leeds, and a goal and a MOTM from Rudy against Brum i reckon.

we're the Oakland Raiders of the championship. We won last week too and are still in with a shout. But no ones kidding themselves that that win was deserved or that we have a realistic shot at the playoffs. Good results acquired by poor performances only mask the problems and our pigeons will come home to roost if we continue with this form of football. We've seen it all before.

Re: Colin W4nk3r OUT
We have played some truly awful football.
If the investment goes through what do you do? Stick and hold out for a shot at play-offs or roll the dice and start rebuilding for the future in January?

I don't think sticking and holding out for the play-offs is an option - we're just not strong enough to get there with the squad we have.Shields53 wrote:We have played some truly awful football.

Some judicious investment building on the nucleus of the squad could well see us to the play-offs or even automatic, then the real investment has to start when/if we go up

Re: Colin W4nk3r OUT
I would like our new owners [the tooth fairy/Peter Pan/Merlin whoever they may be etc] to play the classic midfield role a la Johnny Giles. Put their foot on the ball, look up, see what options are available and pass the ball on the ground, with pace and with intent. I would never give Warnock real money. He will simply hoof it into the long grass where he will find a cadre of blokes 'to do a job' leaving his successor with a problem of middle eastern proportions to resolve. If he stays give him a few quid. If BIG money is available though, find the manager we should already have [Larry brought us to a point where we could legitimately expect a superior replacement] or save it for the manager we will get at seasons end. LUFC with money = honey pot. Queen bees rather than worker ants will be knocking on our door to direct operations at the finest club in all England come the summer. Let's get this one right [at last]. Fans need to up there sights. Begging for Colin was a betrayal of the LUFC legacy. MOTShields53 wrote:

Re: Colin W4nk3r OUT
Surely the managers job is not a problem, Colin is on a contract until the end of the current season, because he wants to retire. It may be that he WANTS to stay on if we get any meaningful investment, but the club executives only have to NOT sign him for further season(s) if they think they can get a better manager! We only have to wait and see what becomes of the TOMA to know what becomes of the Colin!

Even ignoring all the 'brown envelope' type rumours, I never quite trusted 'Arry. He never seems able to look the camera in the eye, looking left and right all the time he is talking. Rubbish body language!
