Noticed this tidbit on Sky...

"Striker Ross McCormack remains on the sidelines with an ankle injury but is closing in on a return, potentially within the next fortnight."

my thoughts exactly, mate. And probably a big ask to expect him to slot straight back in and start creating. He's bound to be a bit tentative initially, could be the New Year before we see the best of him again

We need a big strong pacey striker to improve our attacking options !

McCormack hasn't got much pace & can't win the ball in the air so i can't see much changing when he returns tbh

I do agree with that, tho i reckon hes quality compared to Becchio. But as you said hes not got much pace, and we desperately need pace. There is no way any defense will fear us, looking at our lineup.

I think you are onto something here. Maybe Warnock has mixed up the need for "pace" and that for a "playmaker"?

Id like to see a "playmaker" as well, one that can feed the pacey striker with good passes. Austin sure aint gonna be that type, some goes for norris or brown or whoever plays CM

I find what Ross offers the most is similar to what Varney did against Southampton. Runs in the channels, chases down defenders and generally is a nuisance. He creates as many as he scores and we've been missing that.

Bechhio has not looked the same since Ross got injured lets just wait and see what happens.At the moment our squad is threadbare any player coming back will be most welcome.

I expect Warnock to slot Ross straight back in at Left Back.

Ross may be over rated but when fit he is still without doubt one of our biggest and best attacking threats. Question is how we could fit him and EDH in sam eteam, both of which need to play in our best 11 for me.

One will need to give way. The only option I see would be to run Diouf on the left wing. This is going off Warnocks tactics.

I would however play Diouf in behind Ross and Luci. With Hall and Byram either side on the wings, with Austin/Tonge sitting in behind. That is assuming you want Diouf, luci and Ross in the starting line up to full affect.

Actually, it isn't that funny. It's almost like he's taken the Ajax philosophy (no designated position for young players until they're into their teens, greater awareness of all areas of the game etc etc, fantastic idea, imo) and is applying it to seasoned British-based professionals who have probably played in the same position, moreorless, since they broke into their school teams. Makes no sense whatsoever
