I don't think he's in control of anything but if what Barry Fry is suggesting is true, and bates is involved in talking to other clubs about players we are trying to get hold of, he might f*** it up on the grounds of his gross incompetence in negotiating anything, or purely out of spite.

Call me a cynic - but why does MCD have to state that he is after funds to support the deals. Was this not established prior to identifying specific players and what the outlay would be to target them ? If MCD wanted to keep this behind close doors he could have simply stated that he was meeting GFH to provide status on the deals and left it at that ?

Thats a fair point. No point saying ooh, we have 10 million to spend (yes I know, very unlikely) because clubs & players will hold out for high fees & wages. Then the horrible specimens known as agents get involved and try push costs higher and higher too.

What you will probably find is the deals McD wants doing are probably already done. We just dont know about it yet...

As previously said, lets judge GFH and more importantly McD when the season opener is upon us... we will have a much better picture of where we are then.

Don't get me wrong she does seem a nice lady - and I wish no harm on her or anyone else - but the amount of money spent propping them up - including many minor nobodies - when many people in the UK are on their knees? As for the argument that the Royal Family bring in tourists - the French decided to get rid of theirs over 200 years ago.

Anybody noticed the lack of interest in the Palace of Versailles? Thought not.

I'm all for democracy - we should have a democratically elected head of state. (And, for the record, if The Queen stood in an election she would absolutely walk it. Not so certain about the PoW though)
