Squad for today's friendly in Ireland:
Cairns, Thoms, Killock, Taylor, Drury, Austin, Hunt, Dawson, Norris, Smith, Hall, Grimes, Cook, Mowatt, Walters, Parkin, Coyle.
From the looks of that I'd say that Varney is likely to be starting up top vs. Brighton. Hunt and Smith give us decent options off the bench too.

This ones not on TV .... i believe the week after is though!

Kenny

Pelts Lees pearce Warnock

green
murphy Varney
Macca
Smith Hunt

For me - with varney and macca interchanging.... Id have Austin in if fit and varney upfront.... I went for the diamond in midfield as i thought thats what McD would go for - however picking the middle two was abit of a chore after murphy. Alot of "meh" CM players who are fit.

Problem with that is there's not much pace. That's why I reckon Poleon and White to start wider. The diamond might come back (and be more effective) when Byram's fit though, as I think he's a much more potent threat than Peltier.

The midfield 3 of Green, Murphy and Austin actually seems really strong, we just don't really have anyone near them from the subs I don't think.

We were probably the better team when we played them at ER under McD last season, a shade unlucky to lose the game due to poor indiscipline & refereeing decisions as we ended up with nine men. I wasnt too impressed with Poyet's boys even though they were riding high in the play-offs whilst we were fighting relegation, will be interesting to see how the Seagulls perform under their new manager who has high expectations apparently !

We'll know more by 5pm come Saturday
That's all I needed , i'll go for a 2-0 Leeds win with Hunt and White the scorers

I have a sneaking feeling that the Brighton match will be a complete rout by the Whites. Expect a seriously amped-up crowd now that Uncle Ken has been kicked to his well-deserved curb. Far be it from me to predict a 7-0 win, but......

I would go for this...

Kenny

Peltier Lees Pearce Warnock

Murphy Tonge

Poleon Hunt McCormack

Varney

White is a waste of space and for me mccormack makes a much bigger contribution. He can actually cross it for one thing. Was he not our top player with assists last season? Hunt can float in and around varney picking up the knock ons. Green is also crap imo- would be austin here if fit but tonge was much better against nurnburger so gets the nod for me.

Still not seen much of Murphy. Expecting we won't until we get some decent width.

Someone has to take to the 7-0 score line mantel up since Toby's been swallowed up by the dark side.

Can see this being a draw for some reason. 0-0. Would do nicely!

Going to be a cracking atmosphere.

Not sure if there will be a great improvement, perhaps better organised, a little fitter, Hunt's energy may make the difference.

We have players who can potentially score goals, they just don't seem to be scoring goals. Can't see where the goals are gunna come from, unless it's Poleon.

Or Varney.

Most worrying of the forwards is Smith. He seems to get loads of chances most games, but a lot get saved or miss (as happened last night). Hopefully his form will pick up, as I'm sure he could be very dangerous in this league.
