Lou Reed
Music so wishes to be heard that it sometimes calls on unlikely characters to give it voice...

A tragic loss, one of the all time greats who will be sadly missed.

Re: Lou Reed
I came on to post this sad news.....a true music pioneer and artist, whose music I have enjoyed for nearly 50 years.
Never saw the Velvets, but saw Lou live in London in the late 70's, when he blew the roof off the concert hall (Hammersmith Odeon?). Think Mick Ronson was guitarist.
RIP Lou

Heck ! I'm stunned by the announcement of Lou's death, I forget that legends such as Lou are older than me
One of the pioneers of rock music, a legend in his own right

Heard this in a news flash after X Factor - kinda summed the (musical) world up. RIP.

Re: Lou Reed
A huge tribute to the man, that his death has put twitter, facebook and many non music related forums into meltdown tonight - well above the usual x.fuktor twaddle usually posted. Such was his effect on music and peoples' lives

I think it was Brian Eno who said that the first VU album only sold 10,000 copies, but everyone who bought it formed a band! Says it all, really. RIP Lou

Re: Lou Reed
Ukulele players on the Ukulele Underground have been doing tributes to Lou Reed. He once said
"One chord is fine. Two chords are pushing it. Three chords and you're into jazz."
I tried my hand at a couple of his songs.
and also a Begbie trainspotting version of Walk on the Wild side. :-)
