Just because I live further away and can't get to many matches a year does not make my observations wrong, I have heard people lambasting our own players every time I have been to ER, Even as far back as the Prem years (Okay I was guilty of this then too, Smith my target of choice).
So are you telling me the occasional silence at ER is imagined?
No, you are correct the atmosphere at ER has been poor for the last few seasons,
totally the opposite though at the majority of away games !

Football is littered by players who get overlooked and then make it. Players that look sh*t then something clicks. The players mentioned above didn't loo great at Leeds, add the likes of Barry Bannan and many more, but then look at what they have done since. Crainey booted out of Leeds played in the prem with Blackpool etc.
Apart from Max all those players were managed badly. Warnock's treatment of Barclay was an absolute disgrace.
Catch 22 situation, if we were promoted this year this current squad isn't good enough - Players must know that - they would be bench warmers in the prem. Going back to my earlier email - We continue to play hoofing the ball - I was sure, when Brian arrived we would playing the ball on the ground after, the Warnock era. After 10 months we continue playing direct old fashion football. I disagree with some of comments on players - its not the players, the style of play you could have any top midfield player in this side if by pass the midfield I don't see any improvement adding with this style of play .
Butland is a start in the right direction build from the back.
I think BmD needs a transfer window when he understands what he has to work with before we judge his style, because as much as I like some of our players, is anyone going to ask Rudi/Brown/Lees/Pearce/Norris/Tonge/Pugh to get the ball down and play it?
I think he is attempting to play to our strengths and it is going to take new players and a summer to change our strengths.
That said I don't think he should (nor should any manager) be given a blank cheque.
Every game I predict a 3 - 1 Leeds win, I am traditional like that.

Why not, I rather see them try to play the ball -direct football isn't working.

You can see how frustrated the likes of McCormack, Mowatt & Murphy become with their reactions as the ball is hoofed over their heads, our hoofers also enjoy a game of head-tennis..... exhilarating stuff

I said all the above were very good players...
"A mind is like a parachute, it doesn't work if it's not open"
And for those who slam Kebe and Stewart, both free, just take a look at Ashley Young - £15-£20m MU paid for him and he still hasn't really convinced. Yet free agent Stewart is expected to be the finshed article.
People go on about the mighty Rochdale - that would be the side relegated 2 seasons ago. Oh but surely witht he wonderful football they play that couldn't happen. If Leeds suddenly tried to play great football with the players we currently have there is the real possibility we could be in the relegation mix. Barnsley have played great football against us the last couple of seasons yet are always near the bottom. Teams can only play successful pretty football if they have the players to do it. The players are either bought, usually costing a fair bit more than average journeymen cloggers, or come through the youth ranks if the youth side are taught to play that way. Byram and Mowatt are good examples of players brought up the right way and with BMc making the moves to make the youth team and first team more compatible we will hopefully see more of the youth players come through and mixing with the right signings. It will however take time. Hill, for example, has been at Rochdale a long time (apart from a few months when he left to do dismally at Barnsley - perhaps trying to make them play nice football too quickly?) so has players in the team who have come through the ranks or were signed by him. I doubt he has any players at the club that he has inherited from previous managers.
It took even the mighty Ferguson a few seasons to get MU into a successful team, many of the years when he was in charge early on the team played sh*te as he had previous players in that he didn't want (namely the drinking culture players) and it took him time to bring the right young players through (Giggs, Nevilles, Sharpe, Beckham, Butt etc) and to mix with his signings. A lot of his initial signings were awful, anyone remember Ralph Milne? Gary Pallister turned into a very good signings but for the first couple of seasons was awful and is a good example of how players need time.
Managers need time to make the club their own, to stamp their authority and to have the players they want. Moyes is an excellent manager, just look at what he did at Preston and Everton but is struggling at MU because he has players he doesn't want but it will take him time to get in the players he wants, to play the way he wants. If he is given time I am sure he will do very well there but for now things are going to be rocky.
Leeds need stability. Unless we throw a lot of money at it there is no quick solution. It took McD 2 and a half seasons to get Reading up with them improving each season. At Reading he had the benefit that he had worked with a lot of the players at Under 19 and reserve team level. He had also scouted some of the players so would have known how they played. At Leeds the situation he has inherited was far worse. He needs time and people have to stop being so judgemental until he gets the team he wants and then gets them playing the way he wants them to play.

I've pretended to support a team that's been crap for most of my life as part of a long term plan

Did you post them because there's something wrong with your brain
It's good we mention M an United and Moyes as an example. The vast majority of their fans have been uncharacteristically patient and understanding with Moyes after some terrible defeats. Most of them realise that the players have a responsibility to step up and fight for the squad. The majority of their fans put a large section of our fans to shame, crying out over Brian's dismissal and then one month later, calling it for it to happen. Although to be fair, it mainly seems to be the LUFC Twitter fans. There is still a huge backing for Brian at ER and away games.
If the 'Brian must go' parade can recommend a manager who
[*]we can afford
[*]wants to come to Leeds
[*]wants to manage in this league
[*]will put up with the boardroom shenanigans
[*]will build for the future
[*]can turn the club around in a matter of weeks into a league winning side
[*]can do all this on a shoestring budget
[*]can do this with the abundance of average players under contract at the club
then, maybe we can make an argument for getting rid of Brian. Like spotting premier league potential, spotting a manager at this stage to achieve all of the above is close to impossible. Stick with what we've got.

Almost agree with you. Even with the -10 point deduction for admin (looks likely ATM ), we just need a few results grinding out to be safe.
However, I doubt we have any youngsters who are ready this season. Dawson still trying to get over his injury. Taylor can't be recalled. Lenighan (SP?) not really developed this season, as I'd hoped.
Cairns was not good enough, so we got Butts in. I'd like more Prem class loans please, whilst Cellino is still able to fund us.

Isn't Joe's point that, assuming we are safe from the drop and playoffs are out of our reach, getting loans in is a waste of time and money? Even if it doesn't work out, giving any youth a taste of the league can only be a good thing.
The downside is that fans will lose interest if we aren't fighting and some players may give up. My outlook is to always win. If we have the money and even if it's a long shot, we should do the best we can to achieve playoffs.

I see no point bringing in loans if we have zero chance of signing them, but bringing people in where we could possibly sign them could only be a good thing, besides the glass half full part of me says, if the wingers hit there stride soon then we have a chance of the play offs still.

There is an argument that says bringing in good loan players, even though we can't sign them, will help bring on some of our younger kids and maybe get them into some better habits.
That said, I am not a fan of the loan system at all.
Bates, GFH, Cellino: Same s**t, different arseholes.

I hate the loan system, to me it just encourages the bigger, richer teams to stock pile the young talent.
With regard to loans here, to his credit BMc has stated that he will only loan in players that he has a chance of signing, not sure if that would apply to Butland unfortunately, different circumstance and unless Cellino is to put money in the transfer fund, I doubt we could afford him, as Stoke would want a decent return on their investment, that of course if they wanted to sell.
Before anyone states the obvious, I know Cellino doesn't own us yet and may not.

I think the loan system is a good idea which is overly abused by us and others.
If they restricted how many could go out on loan as well as how many could come in properly it could work, but I am sure the bigger clubs (us included) would just find a way around it.
