I think there must be a fair chance of signing Butland (money permitting of course) as he is likely to be pushing to leave Stoke. He can't be happy being third choice with zero chance of first team footballgessa wrote:
I hate the loan system, to me it just encourages the bigger, richer teams to stock pile the young talent.
With regard to loans here, to his credit BMc has stated that he will only loan in players that he has a chance of signing, not sure if that would apply to Butland unfortunately, different circumstance and unless Cellino is to put money in the transfer fund, I doubt we could afford him, as Stoke would want a decent return on their investment, that of course if they wanted to sell.
Before anyone states the obvious, I know Cellino doesn't own us yet and may not.

That would be our biggest signing for years, actually since I am not sure when.
Every game I predict a 3 - 1 Leeds win, I am traditional like that.

Im hearing that deals for Butland and Wickham will be done in the summer, if they prove themselves.

Was always a fan of McDermott, gotta say the week when he was "Sacked" we thrashed Hudds, since then we've been dire, might be coincidence, might not. It's all well and good saying things like they are not his players e.t.c that's irrelevant, what is relevant is that he signed up with the squad as it is, probably knew about the limited budget, took us on and has been disappointing.

He was told he would be backed in January to sign players - and he wasn't.
Now he is getting in players he wants, albeit on loan, let's see what can be done.

In the first half v Huddersfield we were awful too. Could have been dead and buried at half time. One half where everything clicked.Ricb76 wrote:Was always a fan of McDermott, gotta say the week when he was "Sacked" we thrashed Hudds, since then we've been dire, might be coincidence, might not. He obviously wanted Murphy and Wootton, which was where the money stopped. After that he was scraping round the bins outside Marks & Spencer to see what had passed its sell-by-date.ldsutd wrote:

Well I guess we'll see now that there are some (more) of his signings coming in. Gotta say though we are 7 points off playoff's and in 11th (albeit with a game in hand over some clubs) Colin had us in 12th and 8 points behind when he quit. I expected Brian to surpass that, if things are looking the same on the 1st April then he's failed, because let's be fair Brian has spent money, where as Colin had a shoestring instead of a warchest.

Warnock is the reason that backing never materialised, as the twot brought in long term contract w@nkers, that the potless owners still had to pay.
Jose M couldn't have done any better with worncock's legacy in our squad.

Peltier - 800k
Pearce - 500k
Austin - 300k
Kenny - 400k
Varney - 300k
Tongue - 200k
Ryan Hall -150k
NW spent just as much as BMD was given if not more than BMD was given.

Re: Brian Must Go!!
take Varney and Austin out of that list and it's not a bad collection of players...we never did find out what we had with Ryan Hall imo...Kenny should never have been signed in the first place because he wasn't a huge upgrade on Lonaghan. but as a player 90% here were glad we got him.

Re: Brian Must Go!!
Peltier - decent signing at the time, but the unforeseen explosion of Byram made the price tag hard to take. Here was a youngster doing better than someone who was the highest fee the club have spent in ages. Not completely Warnocks fault (kind of like the Murphy/Mowatt example) but few could argue Peltier is worth that pricehibbi86 wrote:are you forgetting all the players NW bought,

Pearce - solid signing. Is improving with time, like a player should.
Austin - he's either really good or really bad. As time goes on, the really bad games outnumber the good.
Kenny - really good signing. Even despite his age, it was a shrewd amount to pay for a top class signing
Varney - bad signing. Attitude was wrong. Only showed up in some games, and had no drive to carry out.
Tonge - average. He played well on loan - but when he came we already had a load of old midfielders in Brown, Green, Norris and also Austin. We needed more creative midfielders, not another midfielder similar to the ones we had. Although he was an improvement on Green and Norris, we could have used money elsewhere.
Hall - awful. A winger couldn't get in to the team which was crying out for a winger. "He wasn't given a chance" is a terrible excuse when you realise that the likely cause of this was a bad attitude in training. If you are good enough and driven enough, you'll force a chance.
We could do the same with Brian's signings in a year or two. If you contemplate selling all of Warnock's signings (listed above, and Green, Norris, Morrison etc) in a fire sale...I'd imagine only Pearce would make any money on the original investment. Either players are brought in to do a job with their experience, or improve while they are with us. Warnock, I'm afraid, brought in players to get a job done and failed to do it. Brian, under similar constraints, has tried bringing in players that will improve and is choosing the long term option.
Both Brian and Warnock are trailing in the re-sale department to Grayson and the youth department
If we summed up the current value (or the value Leeds sold them for if they have gone) of the best signings brought in by each manager minus the value Leeds paid to bring them in, I think Grayson would win.

Can't argue with that mango.
I wish we had the bulk of that League 1 team of Simon's now, instead of which Norwich have them.
