I think it's totally pointless playing wingers if Matt smith isn't upfront

Smith would thrive on crosses he could attack rather than the hopeful lob forward, let's try it!

We did for about 20 minutes of the 2nd half v Boro, Smith gave their defence more problems than McCormack & Hunt had done in the first 70 minutesGuildford White wrote:

They would actually need to get crosses into the box for that to work though! I think there were only a couple in the whole of the Middlesbrough game, and they were more drilled...Guildford White wrote:Smith would thrive on crosses he could attack rather than the hopeful lob forward, let's try it!
Agree though, Smith and McCormack up front atm for me.

Interesting stat, considering it feels like we don't score from them often!@OptaJoe 5h
31% - Leeds United have the best crossing success rate in the Championship. Swingers. #Opta92

But what counts as a cross? Simply firing a ball in from the flank is one thing, a real chance and/or goal coming from it is another. Wonder what the stat is on this?Genghers wrote: Interesting stat, considering it feels like we don't score from them often!

Depends really on the quality of the wingers, good wingers would be great even without Smith. But as our wingers seems to be off limited quality then yes we should play Smith.

Kebe & Stewart
It all depends on how one dimensional you want the team to be.joelufc20 wrote:I think it's totally pointless playing wingers if Matt smith isn't upfront
I can see the team briefing now.
Paddy: You keep the ball out of the net.
Tom, Pearcedog: You head the ball away from our goal.
Samby, Steve: You tackle their wingers.
Browny: You kick their players before they pass it.
Luke: You pass the ball to one of our players.
Jimmy, Cameron: You cross it onto the big lad's head.
Smithy: You head it into their goal.
Ross: You take penalties.
That's Warnockian thinking.

Meaningless stat, as presented.Genghers wrote: Interesting stat, considering it feels like we don't score from them often!
Let's keep it simple, say it is 33.33% or one third.
We could be top of that table if, at the end of February we had produced 3 crosses, one of which landed on the centre forward's head and then bounced 12 feet over the bar whereas Leicester, say, could have scored 32 goals from 100 crosses - a lower success percentage.

ATM leeds don't have a identity! The season is been batted out til the summer and I'm happy for that to happen! So much dead wood on big money. I know the groundsman at ER and Thorpe arch!
Apparently?
tonge is on 18k a week
Brown 10k
Norris 12k
Diouf 6k
Paying wages like that you can only get rubbish on loan

Re: Kebe & Stewart
I cant` think of what these two bring to the team apart from balance on the fipanks .But as the man says what`d you want for 8-10 grand a week? Kebs is and should be a bit part player and stewart shouldn`t probably feature a head of Mowatt but width it is for Brian . Yesterday the midfield was dissapointing and indeed the above wide men had to really cover back and harry the R`s .Personally for me Kebe did try and harrass and create when he could but i dont really see a future for either of them.

I know the groundsman at the local school. He knows exactly how much all the teachers are on. When they hire new teachers they invite him in and he decides how much to offer them. They also allow him to set all the budgets and organize any findraising.Dickinson19 wrote:ATM leeds don't have a identity! Re: Kebe & Stewart
Haha. Though those figures seem reasonably accurate, it's probably best not to mention your tedious link to a source but just claim it's to the best of your knowledge. If the average of the squad is around £10k, then its easy to assume that 5 players who aren't contributing anything are wasting around £50k a week. It might be 40, might be 60, but in and around that ball park. Frustrating because thats 3 or 4 quality players that could improve the team.weasel wrote: I know the groundsman at the local school. Saying that, its not too unreasonable to think a groundsman/janitor at a local school would know how much teachers are on - if he's buddy with one, he'll know. Also, a football club is a different cattle of fish to a school with regards to wages, rumours of how much Tonge is getting paid to be here are more likely to spread than how much Mr Patterson is getting for teaching maths.

Well according to Jimmy, the milk monitor, Mr Patterson is on £33,000.theleedsmango wrote:
I can't see the Tonge figure as being right as that is around £1m per year which would seem to be a very extravagnat amount to pay as with the transfer fee as well as say a 2.5 year contract that is a commitment of aroundd £3m. I just can't see ither Bates or GFH commiting to that for a journeyman midfielder. Perhaps for a top notch strikr but not a routine midfielder. More likely to be around the £10k to £13/£14k mark.

if the average for our squad is £10K then you would imagine the "senior" players that came in on a free would be getting lots more than most.
Every game I predict a 3 - 1 Leeds win, I am traditional like that.

We'll okay but that's what he has told me.. I believe it and him as I know him and he's worked there for past 10 year.
End of the day the is too much dead wood and we're almost about to recruit more in Kebe

mmm ..ok so give BMC as much time as he likes, but only give new players half a dozen games. maybe if we give the likes of Kebe half a season to settle in and he gets to play with better quality, he comes good.
not getting at you mind I just don't understand making excuses for managers and not for players...everyone here seems to do it...for me buck stops with the manager...
