Yes Brian needs time but he shouldn't have made so many basic/elementary errors in his first year of management at LUFC if he is as good as what everybody think he is. Don't get me wrong i'll always be grateful to McDermott for his efforts especially as i believe he saved us from relegation last seasonpaddy parrott wrote:Yes i could not agree more with you leedsmango results are what they are and when all is by end let`s see Brian mc `s record give him a fair crack. For me two seasons is what he deserves at least although recently a day at a time seems to what it `s going to be. I mean last year only gone we trifled with the drop zone leat we forget.

Re: Brian Must Go!!
Well what's your extents to define 'Top Class'? I'll side with you that there's a 99% chance he won't be up there with Mourinho, Klopp or Guardiola. I'll also agree with that his player choice is somewhat bizarre at times, but to be fair, I would have picked 10 out of the 11 players he put in the team as being the strongest players in that position. We are looking in hindsight and saying Byram should have been on for Kebe, or Wootton for Lees... but an unfit Byram could have easily got injured or gave away a gift of a goal and there would be people questioning why Brian brought in a winger and not play him. No professional player should have been as bad as Kebe was yesterday. A top class manager, actually most managers, would have taken Kebe off far earlier. I don't think Brian knows any other formation that can work for the players we have. Personally I'd like to see another attempt at 3-5-2 with the players we have, but in a variable scenario, we could have got trounced 5-0 by QPR with that formation.1964white wrote: Some good points Mango
I did say "TOP CLASS MANAGER" surely an accolade you couldn't attribute to Brian now or even in the future

This is all fine saying about team selections and him picking the wrong players, we've just had 5 points out of possible 9 with all 3 games been away from home. I'm happy ATM. What can he do this present time apart from look over his shoulder at the takeover happening and him fearing to be sacked legally?
What's your 11 that you would play then now if you was in the hot seat? Mine is:
Butland
Byram wotton Pearce warlock
Stewart Murphy peltier ariyibi
Wickham and the main man

posted on page one in this thread..excuse my correcting you but 5 from 9 makes it sound BMC has had a decent few matches, he hasn't..he's beaten Yoevil in two and a half months. I'm not saying he should go by the way. I am saying he's average at best and he's under-performed to this date. He gets to the end of the season for me at least.

We'll fair point about only beating Yeovil in 2 and half month but if they was to get rid of him? Who on earth would take the job ATM with all the carry ons and no money to spend until a takeover happens, which was Expected to be approved a week ago?

Happy for him to stay but for me he's a glorified caretaker manager...Dickinson19 wrote:We'll fair point about only beating Yeovil in 2 and half month but if they was to get rid of him? Re: Brian Must Go!!
I'm happy with the progress in the last couple of matches. Away to Middlesboro and QPR are certainly not easy games and we have taken a point from both. We do not need to win everry game to get into the play offs but we will need around 2pts on average per gae from now on. So picking up points is good if we can supplement them with wins. ev
Yeovil showed on Saturday why the Championship is never easy. There is no easy match and Reading were unable to beat a side that ended the match with 8 men. No game is easy.
We do seem to be tightening up and if we can keep things tight then RMC and Wickham definitely look capable of nicking a goal or two. It isn't about winning games every week 5-0 playing great football but winning ugly and if not winning still keeping adding points.
Every manager no matter how great their reputation is going to make decisions that fans scratch their heads at. Mourinho does it, Fergie does it and I'm sure Don Revie did it. They though are the ones who see the players every day, know which players have niggles and knocks, know which players are giving 100% etc. There is a lot more to management than computer simulations or simply picking an XI and making subs.
BMC has seen Kebe for several years. No doubt he has seen good performances and bad performances and knows how important a player he could be. He may well think he just needs game time to rediscover his best form.

But quite a lot of us were saying that about Mcallister from day one. It's apparent that bmcd is out of his depth.

I said that BMC was wrong for us from day one.....
We can argue all day that this is not his team ...he hasn't had 5 mill to spend, it's the players that are crap etc..but basic managerial decisions have been poor...why start two new and unfit wingers in the same game? why persist with Austin? what's going on with Zal? why doesn't he like Byram? whats with the 442 when we play better in a 451...? what's with the bizarre substitutions? ..not once have they come off...

Re: Brian Must Go!!
Add to that Stewart & Kebe should never been signed & his most guilty trait is having his favourites which generally is a catastrophic managerial failingfaaip wrote:

Let's say today's team has nothing to do with the egg but he is in charge of them. He has the two wingers on but no Smith, takes both wingers off and puts Smith on. wickham goes wide wtf!! i'm afraid Baz has lost the plot.faaip wrote:

Re: Brian Must Go!!
Most of our TEAM problems come from having to shoe horn in our "best" player...BMC starts with Ross' name on the team sheet then tries to fit everyone else around him..in other words like a childs toy he's hammered the circle into the square slot and can't work out why he can't finish the puzzle box...
I'm not saying McCormack is a bad player I've never said that, he's a very good striker who can turn a game with a moment of magic. I just don't think he's right for us at this time, he'd be better coming off the bench as an impact player...We're a one player team and if he has an off game (and it's often) then nothing works.

Got to go, embarrassing really since Christmas, only so much can be blamed on what is going on behind the scenes. Lucky to get away with a couple of draws lately and today is a true reflection of where we really are. 3-4 years at least awsy from promotion. Not one to normally have a go but today has shocked me into having a go.

He doesn't frighten defenders because of his physique, decent championship defenders know how to deal with Ross & as you say if he is off his game which is often the case we are knackered hence our up & down form !faaip wrote:Most of our TEAM problems come from having to shoe horn in our "best" player...BMC starts with Ross' name on the team sheet then tries to fit everyone else around him..in other words like a childs toy he's hammered the circle into the square slot and can't work out why he can't finish the puzzle box...
