Half the time I sat with my mouth hanging open, I just couldn't believe what I was watching! At one of the corners in the 2nd half, a guy who sits near us bellowed it was time for McDermott to go, with a few choice expletives thrown in, and Ross McCormack heard him, turned and shouted back that he was a pillock, and very nearly missed the corner coming across the goal area.... whatever happened to concentration? Later in the match, after another poor bit of play, I spotted Wickham flapping his arms as if to say "what the hell have I let myself in for?", and who can blame him?
Brian, you've tried, but the use of wingers just is not working, at least not with the wingers we have. We have to drop Stewart and Kebe for now and play more to our strengths, whatever they are! I've been a supporter of Egg, but I find my support swinging away from him. IF Cellino takes over then anything is possible but that is a big if. The most embarrassing thing is that Bolton weren't even good. They didn't really offer anything up front and our defence gifted them 5 goals. Is Zaliukas still being punished for Sheff Wednesday? Because Wootton and Lees were woeful.
Play-offs are gone now clearly, 15 points above the relegation places, is it time to send the loanees back and concentrate on next year. Blood the youngsters, they at least may show some passion.

Bolton never got out of 2nd gear in what was a match played in slow-motion
Agree Shieldsy we should send the loanees back rather than wastes monies on finishing mid-table in the championship

God this is soooo depressing...there's something wrong when we improve the squad with two very good players in Butland and Wickham and get worse...wrong but not surprising..

Defensivley the DM provides cover when the fulbacks go forward. The LF and RF act as wingers when we are defending.
When attacking 1 of the forwards will pull wide (i.e the rightsided striker if we are ging down the right wing) with the other 2 then being central.
Numerically we should domminate central midfield having 3 midfielders. As such the opposition will be forced out wide which should suit us as Pearce and Zaliukas should be able to deal with crosses. If a fullback gets caught out of position the centreback edges across to meet the danger with the def mid slotting into centre back.

and this is the problem...we're still trying to make this into a 442 team...I'm fairly sure that won't work...Ross and Kebe from the above line up add no weight to the midfield...that will allow teams to walk through our midfield and we'd have to by pass ours...essentially that line up is a 4-2-4 with the two being fairly lightweight..

Better but still looks vulnerable to me...We definitely need to phase out Brown and Austin, they won't be here next season
