Re: New Head Coach LUFC
Lets not underestimate Massimo here, he is clearly no mug when it comes to running a football club. Infact hes alot more sucessful at running a club than he is given credit for.
Caligari are a small club by stature compared to the majority of Serie A and he has managed to keep them up in that division for a fair few years down to his shrewd business.
Give the bloke a chance if he fails in 12 months then so be it

So is it official yet? Is The Hock indeed our new not-a-manager-but-a-coach yet?

You haven't noticed his appalling record at picking coaches then? Just the 36 at Cagliari, in a football environment he knew well.hibbi86 wrote:Lets not underestimate Massimo here, he is clearly no mug when it comes to running a football club. He confesses he knows nothing about English football - what makes you think he is suddenly going to be a good judge of coaches here?

36 coaches, and yet they still mostly stayed in the Serie A his tenure at the club. Surely it is not all bad? And looking at the list of coaches, the job has always been a bit of a swinging door, even without Cellino as owner.Guildford White wrote:

If I had realised how low the bar had been set in terms of what Managers/Coaches needed to have achieved in the past then I would have handed my CV. That said I would appear vastly overqualified in comparison after taking my Sunday side to back to back promotions and successive cup wins.

You wonder how the serious of clowns we have had in charge ever since Ridsdale could find new ways to make us laughing stocks.weasel wrote:If I had realised how low the bar had been set in terms of what Managers/Coaches needed to have achieved in the past then I would have handed my CV. Re: New Head Coach LUFC
Lets look at what we could of had if there was no Massimo.
The other consortium could of coppered together and searched under the sofa and raided there kids piggy banks and bought us, then a month later been hit with a tax bill for just short of a mill and they would of borrowed off peter to pay Paul. Then the money needed to finish the refurb of Thorpe Arch and they would of been getting more loans to pay for it which means you guessed it MORE DEBT then we get relegated from this division because it was Cellino's money which brought in the loan players in January ok maybe not brilliant loan players but that's Brian for ya. Then they would of sacked Brian which would of been even more DEBT and then probably get someone to manage the team maybe Owen Coyle or someone shite like that on a 3 year contract which wouldn't of worked out and we would of been paying again for a shite manager for the next 2 years of his contract. But hey this is all just hypothetical and to the extremes. Just like all the doom and gloom is now about Hockaday and Cellino so lets just give them a huge big welcome on our first home game.

Hope to be proven wrong and look forward to the signings of some of the premierships/worlds finest footballers in the next few weeks.... but that engrained feeling of doubt and pessimism created by the last decade will take a bit of shaking off and an appointment of a conference manager/coach does very little to inspire..Armleywhite wrote:Surely this is a fukcing windup? Somebody asked me why I was surprised. Well, TBH, m not. Jus bloody angry that the club is once again in the hands of a total schyster. Again, this also doesn't surprise means as modern football is all about such things. However, I have voiced my concern about Cellino since he made inroads to buying the club and asked why such a crook appeared to be welcomed. I was shot down by some for saying that the consortium were, for me, a far better option. well, it seems the people got what the people wanted. like I said previously, frying pan and fire spring to mind.Cozy wrote:
