When was the last time you actually enjoyed watching a Leeds team play week in and week out? Guarantee it was Grayson's team in L1 and first year Championship.
NOW :-D as i could see from the pre-season given time we have a team of mainly young talented footballers within our ranks

Prior to that Grayson's team in our L1 promotion season up until January, during our cup run we completely lost our way for the last four months of our bread & butter campaign, didn't help losing Kisnorbo to a serious injury though. We did okay in our first season back in the championship, unfortunately we needed three goals to win far too often & we never replaced Beckford !

I agree with weasel and GW on this and also echo whoever it was (Kyle I think) who asked when we last consistently enjoyed watching our team!
Also, a big plus is that he loves Leeds. He got the job of his dreams and was crushed when fired. He would really be out to prove the injustice of his sacking and show everybody how much he fits in and wants us to do well.
The only danger is, Cellino might be jealous, but if MC and SG could somehow share the glory I could see a great future.

(cough)I also still like Beckford(cough) 8-)

Just saying :)
You also have to remember Norm because of Grayson's dalliance with a member of staff, he took his eye off his job & caused a real rumpus within the walls of ER. In the end he lost alot of respect from people around him at LUFC & he couldn't buy a win. Embarrassing defeats & the sack was inevitable, in other words he caused his own downfall silly man !

McAllister....remember Histon oh & Andy bl**dy Robinson

Under Grayson we should have been at least challenging Norwich for the L1 title with the players we had in that team such as Ankergren, Naylor, Kisnorbo, Snoddy, Johnson, Howson, Gradel, Beckford, Becchio, etc but in the end we only just scraped automatic promotion. Larry didn't do well at Huddersfield & is doing okay-ish at Preston.
I doubt many on here were at the Swindon, Hereford, Exeter, plus many other games where we put in some woeful performances although every Leeds fan will remember the Scum game !
SG wasn't a failed manager - 1 of only 4 managers to achieve something at Leeds. The board failed him constantly selling any player (or allowing them to leave for free) as soon as they attracted interest. SG had to constantly try to reinvent the team after losing key player after key player and not being given adequate funds to replace them. Don't lump him in with McAllister cos McAllister failed miserably and his team was in complete freefall when SG came in and turned it around.

Under SG we were competing with Norwich, a side which history has proved was certainly the best, by some distance, side in the division that season. Norwich were a side that were able to keep all their best players and as such their league 1 players were largely good enough for lower end premiership. Our good players were sold.

'Larry didn't do well at Huddersfield' - he got them promoted something they failed to do under Clark despite going something like a year unbeaten. Yes it may have only been via the play=offs but that in itself is a plus as he has constantly shown the ability to motivate a team for big games.

Hereford defeat was very early in his reign and was a watershed moment - the team went on a very good run after that. Yes the Swindon game was poor but they were a team bang in form while we had a lot of demons at the time. Once again though SG managed to rally the team and after looking unlikely to make promotion he got the team firing again, taking bold decisions like dropping Beckford, who's head seemed to be all over the place, but then making him captain against Bristol Rovers. Other inspired decisions such as signing Gradel after Gradel had been sent off v Bristol Rovers - I doubt a single Leeds fan would have signed him after that.

'Larry is doing okayish at Preston' - unbeaten in the leage this season and have conceded only 3 league goals. Reached the play-offs last year. Crikey 64 you set very high standards.

To be honest though 64 losing your player of the season and best central defender shouldn't really make much difference defensively. We still had Naylor available for some games and yes his legs were past it a bit by that time and he really wasn't able to stand up to the rigour of 2 or 3 games a week but that should not affect a team defensively, after all we still had right footed midfielder Andy Hughes playing out of position at left back so we should not have been conceding any goals.

SG deserves shooting. He never replaced Beckford, who was unproven at Championship level (although has scored 23 in 86 since). What we needed was a pacy player who could score 20 goals and Gradel simply wasn't capable of doing that with only a paltry 18 league goals in a team that scored goals for fun....

We were 12 points ahead of Norwich & then ended up miles behind the Canaries as they cantered L1 whilst we went on a miserable run. That's Grayson for you, he flatters to deceive with whatever club he is in charge of. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he manages to achieve promotion with PNE as he is a competent League One manager, lower half of the Championship coach at best !

Yes there is no doubt about that, somehow we scraped over the line but that doesn't make him a suitable candidate for the current LUFC job, massive club which needs the right man at the helm. Cellino needs to make the right decision !

And what on earth makes you think he will change the habits of a lifetime?

He doesn't pick good coaches, he never has.

Un-fortunately at the moment I don't get we are a massive club we have not been in contention for anything for a number of years now there are plenty of teams in the same state as us.

So you're saying Grayson is a possibility then?

We have a 40k stadium, a massive fanbase & all the facilities in place for us to be a prem club, it's just that little matter of achieving promotion, it may never happen in my lifetime but i have more hope now than i've had in last ten years.

If we are not a big club....why have Sky persisted in showing Leeds United on their TV station more so than most clubs at our level over the years ? the reason being the can maximise viewing figures because of our worldwide fanbase !

I know many fans who follow prem teams & i've lost count how many have said they want Leeds United back in the premiership, we are a massive draw

Not much chance, Grayson is far better than the average Cellino coach

Scraping over the line to get promotion into the Premier League and then consolidating just outside of the Premier League places would do me fine, then we'll see what 'right man' we can hire.

Anyway, Grayson has ruled himself out. Or at least dismissed the possibility that there was ever a link. I don't think him and Cellino would see eye-to-eye anyway.

Clarke or Garcia still looking strong options. Either would do. Strong personalities on the training fields to inspire and promote confidence.

Yes Norwich were a very good side - I have already told you this. The fact that the nucleus of their 3rd tier side was still playing for them in the premiership shows how good a side they had. I fail to see why you use them as some yardstick to measure Leeds against. Norwich had a squad of championship players at their disposal we had a squad comprising of youth products, free/cheap signings & loan players.

As for lower half of the champioship coach I would suggest you must have forgotten that he guided us to 7th place in his only full season in the championship. That was with a squad that was still made up of the youth products, free/cheap signings & loan players and a squad that had lost its star player, Jermaine Beckford, and had spent £0 on replacing him. Even when he was sacked, after being given no money to spend in the transfer window and seeing Howson leave (as well as Bradley Johnson and Max Gradel earlier), we were in touching distance of the play-offs.

On 1 February 2012, Grayson was sacked by Leeds United due to lack of results he was getting. A Club Statement said: "We have 18 games to go this season and are still within touching distance of the Play-Offs, but felt with the transfer window now closed we needed to make the change at this time in the belief that a new managerial team will be able to get more out of the existing squad of players and make the difference"

It baffles me still the expectation level at the club and amongst fans when the squad was continually being weakened.

Nothing baffling pal, a lot of Leeds fans believed everything Bates told them.

A lot believe everything Cellino says too
