Re: Best Song Poll : NEW POLL UP NOW - NOMINATE NOW

Post by Durly »

Will have a good trawl through later but some great bands/artists to nominate again. Burning Spear, Cult, Gang Of Four, Stan Getz etc. Also The Deftones who I've always thought were massively underrated (critically at least). Consistently good band and their last album 'Koi No Yokan' was an absolute belter. It's always annoyed me that they get lumped with the likes of Linkin Park etc. Will be difficult to choose just two from them but here's some food for thought.

Re: Best Song Poll : NOMINATE NOW

Just for clarity, the Cult song that Twiggs has nominated - 'Flowers In The Forest' is a Southern Death Cult song. Apart from Ian Astbury, the other band members of SDC were very different from The Cult, although by the time they changed their name to Death Cult they had the core Astbury/Duffy/Stewart line up established. So, are we allowing SDC and Death Cult songs as well in The Cult poll?

Meant to say there is a Cult song called 'Flower In The Desert' so didn't know whether Twiggs was thinking of that?

OK, some nominations:

Burning Spear:
Marcus Garvey
The Invasion

Big Youth:
Train To Rhodesia
House Of Dreadlocks

Aphex Twin:
Xtal
Come To Daddy

The Cult: (tricky this)
Gimmick
Go West (Crazy Spinning Circles)

The Deftones: (even trickier)
Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away)
Entombed
(Really could have been any one of about 20 odd though)

Frank Sinatra:
There Used To Be A Ballpark
It Was A Very Good Year

That's all for now but more to come.

I would like to say that my nomination for Bodhisattva came because I have always loved Countdown to Ecstasy- not my fault it ended up on a Greatest Hits!
