I saw him quoted that he just wants more game time and to be played in his preferred position (CM)... If It's true what he turned down to stay at City then it would break Arsenals wage structure to sign him.

Good bit of business for once from Rogers. Liverpool aren't a Champions League team anymore and aren't going to attract the top strikers, they missed that boat. Most people watching the Premier League were baffled that no clubs went in for Ings, Austin or Benteke; all good strikers for most teams, but perhaps backups for a Chelsea or Man City. Also helps that it's free/compensation only. Liverpool have to accept they aren't the big powerhouse that can attract top players. A bit like us having to settle for players like Smith or Antenucci, Liverpool can't go chasing the guaranteed goal scorers. Looking at players who have scored more than Ings (11) leaves you with Silva (12), Rooney (12), Pelle (12), Benteke (13), Hazard (14), Giroud (14), Berahino (14), Sanchez (16), Austin (18), Costa (20), Kane (21), Aguero (26). Only Benteke and Austin emerge as suitable candidates who could move to Liverpool and have scored a similar amount of goals for a relegation threatened team.
I think we should send a few of our board members over to Liverpool forums to rhyme off their "give it time" spiel. On a relative scale Ings is a far more optimistic signing for Liverpool than Nucci or Cani were for us.
I mentioned in the other topic about Rogers how bad his signings have been. Using the Suarez money to fund Ballotelli and Lambert was terrible business (even more ironic considering how Brendan mocked Spurs for blowing the Bale money on crap signings). It's just baffling that, in the season following a 2nd place finish and having got near on £60m for Suarez, they would have been able to attract and afford someone much better than Ballotelli and Lambert.
Ings may do alright in a better team, but I feel that he and Austin's levels are probably mid-to-lower half... He could prove me wrong of course!
Milner will do well I think, probably one of the most consistent players in the Prem, and incredibly hard working to boot.
