Leeds v Brentford - Team/Reports/Ratings
The Bees haven't got off to a flyer this season losing two of their four matches so this fixture probably looks the easiest on paper in comparison to our first five matches
I reckon Uwe will start with the team that started v Derby although i would definitely find a starting place for Luke Murphy who gives us some order in the midfield when the going gets tough !
First home win of the season i reckon
Come on Leeds....MOT

A game we shouldn't have lost last season, so hopefully we will avenge that. Difficult decision on the team selection, I always think that you should stick with a winning team but we are a better team with Murphy in it but who do you drop for him??

Only change I'd make for the moment is Murphy for Mowatt as it seems like Alex has been struggling somewhat recently. I'd drop Doukara from the bench and but Botaka in there - if Byram is poor again then he gets his chance.

I know they say don't change a winning team but i'd go for
Murphy for Mowatt
Antenucci for Byram (particularly as we are playing at home)
Bellusci for Cooper (maybe a bit harsh on Liam)
Botaka to make his debut during the 2nd half if fit & required

Re: Leeds v Brentford - Team/Reports/Ratings
Only change for me would be Bellusci for Cooper as Cooper has been at fault for both of the goals we have conceded in the last 2 games. I think Bellusci and Byram were probably both unsettled by the transfer speculation but now that the window is shut they can get back to just focussing on football.

As for Adeyemi....were you at Derby or Reading ? a young man doing the holding job Austin was incapable of !Gary Shaw wrote:
At least someone agrees with me, Mowatt was our player of the year by a mile last season in my opinion. His goals, 6 out of his 9 being wonder goals in my opinion, earned us 10 points and I have seen 4 of our first 6 games and to be honest he hasn't played that badly at all. I think it is incredible that fans want Mowatt to be dropped when: Byram, Adeyemi and Dallas's performances (so far) have all been much worse than Mowatt's in my opinion. All 3 mentioned so far this season have been what I would call highlights players in my opinion, they look fantastic during 5-10 minute highlight programmes but whenever you watch them for 90 minutes they look average in my opinion, Whilst Alex last season proved he is not that type of player at all.
Unsure about Dallas tbh but he has had two goal assists to his credit
Yes Byram has been well below par & Mowatt has also struggled which is probably down to what i highlighted on a thread about his fitness problems. Rosler may wrap Alex up in cotton wool whilst they resolve his tiredness symptoms.
I agree Mowatt was one of star performers last season but has shown nowhere near that form this term. I expect both Byram & Mowatt to return as fresh as daisies in the near future !

If you can't count on a player lasting 90 mins then he should not start.
Every game I predict a 3 - 1 Leeds win, I am traditional like that.

We've had a pretty gruelling start. Hopefully the fortnight off will have done Alex and the rest of the squad some good.

Re: Leeds v Brentford - Team/Reports/Ratings
Wasn't at Reading and saw none of that game but saw the Derby game. However, I was at both Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday games and in my opinion so far he has done very little when we have been in possession of the ball and I don't think he has performed the holding role that well either this season. I don't like using stats but I found that he makes on average 1.8 tackles a game, Lewis Cook who is not a holding midfielder has made more (2 a game). In comparison Adam Clayton (again not a natural holding midfielder) has made 2.8 tackles per game. From what I have is that most of the other championship teams holding midfielders have made more tackles than Adeyemi. I also looked up his passing stats 76% pass accuracy 0.4 key passes a game, Cook (82%, 2 key passes a game) and Mowatt (85% and 0.8 key passes a game). Stats prove very little I admit but I don't think he has done very well so far but as you say he is only 23 and there is a good chance he can still be a big success at Leeds and he could play at the top level. Dallas 2 assists and both very good ones (but other than that in my opinion he hasn't done anything else of particular note.)1964white wrote:

It's all about building a team that compliments each other. A good example would be David Batty. If you looked at his contributions statswise then you'd see very few assists, even less goals and probably not much in the way of anything spectacular. What his role did do though was to allow the flair players much more freedom to do their things, get out of position etc because when we lost possession Batty would be in the position shielding the back 4. What this then does is affect the options the oppostion has as they don't have the option of running through the centre as we'd have the 2 centrebacks and Batty there. It also meant that if a fullback had got caught up field Batty could drop in to a centreback position allowing the centreback to go and meet the danger if the opposition attacked down the flank where our full back was missing from.
That said I haven't seen enough of Adeyemi to judge how well he does the job as it is hard to judge his role just from tv pictures as a lot of his role is off the ball.

Re: Leeds v Brentford - Team/Reports/Ratings
Well i think he has been one of the finds of the season & for me is one of the first names on the team sheet as he does all the messy stuff well, breaks up play, win the ball in the air as he is a big lad & generally lays the ball off to the flair players. He also has this knack of drifting from deep into the box & getting in goalscoring positions just as he did at Derby & of course Jonny Howson use to do so well. Another attribute in his locker he is no headless chicken unlike his predecessor in that positionweasel wrote:It's all about building a team that compliments each other. Batty is a prime example as why not to take too much notice of stats, for the reasons you state Weasel. Not that they are accurate anyway, I remember a game against Boro, and Opta had Batty down as making something ridiculous like 8 tackles for the game, he made that amount in the first 15 minutes, including a brilliant ball winning crunching 50/50 with supposed hard man Ince, who never went near him after that and was out of the game.

Adeyemi had less impact in the Sheff Wed game due to playing alongside young Phillips who had a stinker where as the previous week at Reading Adeyemi & Phillips were excellent. Adeyemi is the perfect foil if he has the likes of Murphy or Mowatt playing alongside him
