Re: I love this man already.....
Forget the passion for the job, forget he's so proud to be here, forget his patting himself on the back for him thinking he's rejuvenated Mowatt and Antenucci since his arrival, forget he thinks he's in with a chance of getting By ram to sign a new contract (won't happen) forget that people think he's United the players and improved team spirit.
Look at some match facts, 6 games 5 against mid to low table teams 2 of whom were the bottom 2,
First up Bolton a team on a bad run and bottom of the table, we need a penalty to get a point in a very average display against a team who played the last 20 minutes with 10 men.
Fulham, a team on a mixed run, a point would of been ok and that's what we got.
Blackburn. A team on a bad run no win in 6 games struggling to score, but it only takes 22 seconds to change that, we lose 2-0 in one of the worst performances for a very long time and that says something with the dirge delivered over the last 10 or so years.
Cardiff lying 8th on a good run and a bogey side, we manage a 1-0 win in a very poor game.
Huddersfield a team we have done well against in recent years and on a poor run, we capitalise on their poor finishing and get 3 goals from 4 chances, the good run continues.
Rotherham. 2nd bottom 1 point from the last 18, a poor team, we give a performance as bad as the Blackburn one, only exception being today we did create a few chances and if 2 of them were converted then it puts a different complexion on things but it would have been another poor performance but at least we'd have got 3 points from it.
So we've played 6 games under Evans with not one good performance, in fact two of them are in the top 5 worst performances in the last 10 years, we got 8 points in games where we should have been looking for 14.
Unfortunately there would be little point in doing anything about it because whilst Cellino is here this is only going to be the calibre of manager we will attract.
The future is not looking good.

We have to stop blaming the managers...the players have to take responsibility...they are simply not good enough!

But we are constantly told we have a great crop of young players and only need a fine tune. I don't think we have, I've said before there is only 3/4 of the team I'd keep. My problem is we're not going to be able to attract a manager who has the quality to sort it out. We're lumbered, fortunately I think there are 3 teams worse than us,only just mind.

Actually I'm a buck stops with the manager type of guy. Good manager better results. There's not that much wrong with the exception of the front line. Score goals and you take the pressure off. Also 442 won't work in this division. Said it before ...saying it again

They are but they're just not good enough at the moment and it's no good saying let's keep them and see what happens, because they won't all hang around, some will get better offers and move on.faaip wrote:

Re: I love this man already.....
They won't get better offers if they're not LUFC first team. All the above show potential and, I'll use an American football phrase, a high ceiling. I'd obviously always take the money if offered over and above value because that's good business at this level but replacing the above comes with no guarantees, the need to allow to bed in and again no reason we get it right..and that goes for any scout/manager/chairman
Some point we have to stop the player turnover and trust what we have, we empirically know what they can do it just needs organizing properly. I've always said the manager is the most important figure at a football club.
No idea if this is the right guy yet, I love his passion but that maybe a negative down the line.

Firstly mate I've said this previously i'm still waiting to see the best team in the championship, there isn't a lot between those near the top & the bottom of the table. Apparently Boro' were dire last night winning with a 93rd minute penaltygessa wrote:Forget the passion for the job, forget he's so proud to be here, forget his patting himself on the back for him thinking he's rejuvenated Mowatt and Antenucci since his arrival, forget he thinks he's in with a chance of getting By ram to sign a new contract (won't happen) forget that people think he's United the players and improved team spirit.

Don't remember each and every one but I know if Blackburn were any good the score line would have been similar to some of those, today was about playing against a God awful team and we showed no passion nothing, ok we had a few chances but for petes sake we were playing bottom of the table rubbish, we should do.1964white wrote:

Re: I love this man already.....
Well done Steve Evans
Changed the formation, played Bridcutt & Adeyemi to give our midfield much more steel giving Mowatt & Cook the freedom to show off their silky skills
Got the players fired up after two shockers to beat one of the top teams in the championship
Played some lovely football on the floor
minimum hoofing today
Need more of the same v Charlton & Preston
