I don't know that you can say it's purely money, money, money in this case. It's a chance to play in the premier league and learn from a better class of players as well.

Bellusci gone to Empoli on season long loan - £300K fee for the loan. :jump: At least we won't be arguing on here about him.

James Beattie also joins the coaching staff.

Loan deal for Kyle Bartley from Swansea is "well advanced", also talk we are interested in John Egan from Gillingham.

Never heard of either tbf...Bartley would be a starter and Egan a prospect for the future maybe, not seeing anything in his bio that would suggest a starter for LUFC from day 1. He has apparently been outstanding for Gillingham for two seasons though, so could be a plus signing

I may be in the minority, but I'm sorry to see Bellusci go. Despite the tendency to implode on occasion, he was, imo, our best CH, unafraid to get stuck in and also comfortable on the ball. Even if he did need telling when and when not to do the Bobby Moore impressions!

one of the best passers of the ball we've had a centre half...I'll also be sorry to see him go. Most of his so called mistakes came when left to deal with multiple forwards breaking and Cooper or Bamba MIA

Seems Bartley deal is done
Definitely don't see him as a replacement for Bellusci. Only had 26 total games in his Swansea career since 2012. Maybe he can kick it into gear at Leeds?

I'm sorry to see Bellusci go, too.

Our yellow card total will probably go down by half, but that's not necessarily a good thing.

Bellusci has heart, and that will be missed.

Rangers fans
In fairness Bartley has a great deal to offer at the top end of the English Championship level. He does make too many errors when he's played for the Swans and for a tall lad his heading (or jumping) isn't effective. Garry Monk put much faith in Bartley but he still ended up 4th choice under Curtis & Guidolin. Perhaps regular football will improve him.
Bad, bad player, not good.

Won't judge him till he plays for us. For whatever reason a lot of defenders have looked awful for us and then done well after they left such as Alex Bruce and Tom Lees. Being a defender is always about learning from the mistakes you make, remembering the mistake and not let it happen again. This is the reason why defenders generally peak in their late 20s and many can go on playing well into their mid thirties as despite losing pace their ability to read the game should have improved over the years. Hopefully Bartley will become a good player with a run of games.

Disappointed to see Bellusci go as for me he was the best of our centrebacks. However all 3 are error prone and so perhaps the one with most potential is Cooper.

Wonder if he is all the hype? Cellino clearly sees something in him, and has a decent judgement for things, so lets git 'er done!

Not really, the quality of players at the club has gone up since Cellino, or do we just have conveniently short memories about what it was like before the evil Italian showed up?

Also, another Italian player Cellino is hot for. Copy and pasted from a clickbait site, so you don't have to....
"With his contract expiring at Chievo, Simone Pepe could be set to depart Italian football altogether in favour of a move to English club Leeds United.

Simone Pepe could be set to join English Championship club Leeds United on a free transfer from Chievo.

The 32-year-old arrived at Flying Donkeys last summer after five years at Juventus, but only penned a one year deal with the club, leaving him free to depart should he wish.

Despite enjoying a positive debut season in Verona, the former Azzurri international is mulling over a move to Italian-owned Leeds, according to The Daily Express.

Chievo are not set to offer Pepe a new deal, meaning his stay at the club looks to be all but over.

Under the ownership of former Cagliari patron Massimo Cellino, Leeds have seen an influx of Italy-based players arrive at the club over the past two seasons, including former Chievo goalkeeper Marco Silvestri and Catania striker Souleymane Doukara.

The West Yorkshire club made an approach for Pepe last summer, but the Roma Primavera graduate opted to remain in Serie A.

The former Udinese wide man scored three goals and recorded as many assists in his 23 league appearances for Chievo last season."
