Gary Shaw wrote:Not convinced signing Ashley Fletcher is the way forward, 7 goals in 16 starts last season isn't terrible, however, this is in league one and he probably won't be starting games for us. From what I have seen he is very very fast, strong, hard working and good in the air plus makes some very intelligent runs off the ball so he won't be the worst signing in the world. However, he is not a great goalscorer at the moment and from what I have seen offers nowhere near the same as Wood offers to the team.
I would sign RMC would fit into this team perfectly, would be incredibly effective on the right or left of the attacking 3 behind Chris Wood and of course can score a goal from absolutely nothing which is something this team doesn't have in midfield and almost all of the teams we are competing against do have.
RMC and Pedraza/Canos will make us almost unstoppable.
Alan Shearer's record at Southampton wasn't great but Dalglish (and others) saw something about him. I think at championship level real pace is a huge asset and if he is good in the air too then it does mean to some degree he can cover for Wood as a target man.

Alfonso Pedraza's passed the medical announcement likely to be later today that he's signed, he'll cost us about £8.5million if we get promoted to the Prem and if he helps us get there it will be a bargain  MOT

Hope there are more to come because our squad is so slender as it stands

The first XI more or less picks itself for the trip to Blackburn tomorrow night .

Centre-back & a forward who can play the lone striker role to fit into Monk's formation are essential

Pedraza will love having Hernandez threading the ball into space for him

I'm sure Hernandez will love having someone on the same wavelength to pass it to as well and not see His pass stopped the player run head down only to pass it 40 yards backwards.

As i've said previously I love Spanish players, they are like chess/snooker players where there minds are thinking three or four moves ahead of a situation

A number of them - and I'm sure not even the better ones - play in the A-League here in Oz. I can recall only one who has failed and he was a target man type striker rather than a play-making midfielder which most of the imports from Spain to the A-League are.

My main concern is, this chap appears to be a "proper winger" not sure that works well with an attacking LB behind him.
Every game I predict a 3 - 1 Leeds win, I am traditional like that.

Fletcher deal is reportedly off. Where does this leave our striker search?
Omar Bogle?

I can't see Monk being happy if we don't bring in cover for Wood. Concerned about CB cover too. Going off Sunday's evidence, we only have Ayling as a viable option if Bartley or Pontus are unavilable and would much rather he stay at right back.

Another centre half would be nice (rumours of this Swedish fella - Wahlquist?) so maybe that will happen. We really need that cover/competition for Wood though. Fletcher deals seems to be off. Nightmare if we don't have a plan B (or C).

Add this midfielder, Clough and a defender and I would call that a decent window!

Sky Sports Spanish expert saying he works really hard off the ball - presuming that means he helps out his defender and closes down etc. 6ft tall too apparently so hopefully decent in the air too.

1 in 4.

Lafferty has scored at the same ratio and is much better suited to our set up I think.
Still beating that same drum, mav!!!
