Seems to fit better with what we needed than Vydra who reports suggested was better at 10, whereas Bamford seems to get best reports leading the line. Good touch, movement and awareness - just not the quickest. Quite hopeful of this one.
You just described Kemar Roofe, except for the quickness thing. Kemar has decent pace

Re: Patrick Bamford - WE HAVE A STRIKER

Post by 1964white »

To those who are negative about the signing of Bamford, not many bad vibes from the Boro' fans who seem to be in total despair

"Good luck to the lad - crap decision by the club. I will have a tenner on him topping the championship scoring charts"

"Insane, hope it is near the 10m mark, should have been closer to 15m really given his pedigree and age at this level"

"Disgraceful decision. What the f*cking hell are we doing"

"Sorry to see him go, but life goes on"

"Nothing against him, but I can’t really wish him luck: too much like wishing Leeds luck"

"Just a crazy decision. Negligent. But he's gone so on we go"

"Really, really, really annoyed"

"Will be interested to see what he says about why he left / was sold"

"Another of the club's bad decisions. Quite a collection building up when compared to the good decisions"

"Gibson would have been bankrupt years ago if he ran the rest of his business interests this way"

"Thanks Paddy for your goals in the second half of last season"

"Don't get it. One of our better players and well liked by the fans. Wonder who will replace him unless we just need the money?"

"Madness !"

"Very disappointing to sell someone who's more talented than Britt and Rudy, especially frustrating when there's no explanation"

"Disappointing"

"Very disappointed, I think he will score a hat full of goals for Leeds, we move on"

"Good luck to Paddy, he's been great for us"

"What's going on? Fabio and now Bamford and we've kept the dross"

"Twenty four years old and oozes class. I'm struggling to see how and from where we will replace that for less than £10m"

"He'll score against us"

"Ive got to say that I am very disappointed and hoped this was all paper talk.
He was our best striker last year and seemed to have his heart in the club"

"Shocking decision. Shows a total lack of ambition on our part. Even selling a decent player to promotion rivals is bad, selling them your best player. Nuts"

"Appalling. Really frustrated by our ineptitude"

"Great! We've just got rid of one of our best players"

"It's probably not a bad move for Bamford. At least he's going somewhere where he's presumably wanted"

...if they (Sampdoria fans) cherry pick our Vierra quotes from CJay, me and a few others then they're getting a top quality player for peanuts too

Well we needed a striker, so hopefully he's a success. Though I do worry when I read the 'here's why he's a great signing' article on the LUFC site and they take about his record four seasons ago and how we went on a good short goal scoring spell last season. Fingers crossed.

Very optimistic about this signing, fits the bill perfectly for me. Esp in to the way MB seems to set up tactically. Vydra more an out an out striker but Bamford more the complete center forward and team player. Very good signing, best business in years from the club. Wonder what the Vitor haters are saying about that one?

That being said, i'm truly disappointed with the release of Viera. but 7m in for a 20 year old?! Dunno,,, paid for Bamford I guess but still shocked and sad to see such a talented youngest leave. :(

True. Very much looking fwd to seeing him. Like I say very optimistic about him, always thought he was a decent player.

Always rated Roofe, never understood the critics tbh.

Absolutely White.

I haven't been looking fwd to the new campaign at all this year. Genuinely thought we were going to struggle this year, however a new striker brings new hope and optimism. Just hoing we can add a couple more before deadline day.

Wonder what the team / shape will look like on Sunday. Couldn't have been dealt a trickier opening game either.

Remember this, of course you do. We rather forget this game but I'll forgive Bamford now he is our striker

That's how to position yourself & finish like an accomplished striker :-D

Nice first, second is poor finish straight at keeper, 3rd is unmarked that was miles offside ....That was more about us than Bamford

Roofe' v QPR ws better and all three goals were legal
