Bristol City would have been top 10 had they beaten us. Bristol City looked poor throughout the game and offered very little. We outplayed them first half without really getting into gear. The second yellow was deserved, no idea what Lee Johnson is on about if he thinks clattering through a player dangerously when no chance of getting the ball is a good tackle then he's an idiot.
It was us with the major injury problems, first 11 and we win that at a canter
Once they lost a player and couldn't play 11 men behind the ball we looked a lot better, but usually teams struggle against 10 men so again the red card is slightly irrelevant. Saiz provided the key. Fans are blinded by what he doesn't get quite right and don't have the vision to understand he allows everyone else to play while taking on 2/3 defenders and still making key passes
Quest TV singled out Roofe as our best player I wouldn't disagree with that as he was very good and Phillips had an easy day at the office which is when he looks very good.
Agreed
How many times do we see players get away with making a yellow card offence against us when already booked? That was our first opponents' red against us since Bristol City last year, although that was rescinded. Unfortunately his lies about refs giving us favours at home mean we'll get a terrible ref on Tuesday. Johnson is a sad little man full of excuses and no praise to the opposition. I remember his comments about Wolves last year.

No fans around me had that opinion at half-time Weasel
If you get chance have a watch of the whole match again as sometimes I think fans expect too much and it is almost like if we haven't scored we aren't playing well. Not saying we were playing great but only one team looked like scoring and we did have a few opportunities. I was surprised when I re-watched the first half and I suspect this is why Bielsa watches the match again a few times afterwards as sometimes when you are caught up in the match as it happens you almost end up deceiving yourself.

The first yellow card he got was a little harsh but the second yellow was a definite yellow and some refs might even have deemed it a red.

Agreed. If we haven't scored after 20 minutes, we're playing badly according to some fans. They've just got to be patient as the goal will come. Only one game we failed to score in, Boro, and we're the only team yet to have a penalty so it shows there's goals in us. Of course when teams have 11 behind the ball it's hard to find space, so we have to be patient.

Top scorer says otherwise. I think he's perfectly suited to this system tbh. Great movement, impressive hold up play for a smaller forward and has a knack of being in the right place at the right time.
Will be glad to have Bamford vac, but he's still not going to come straight into the team ahead of Roofe.
Considering we had 2 debutants in the back four alongside a left winger at right back I'm very pleased with the win. Good play from Klich to set up Hernandez' chance which lead to Roofe's goal, and Samu's pass for the second was brilliant.
If Pontus isn't back, I'd start Phillips in the back 2, drop Forshaw back and bring Saiz in at 10.
Didn’t mean to have a go at roofe by the way, I think he’s a great player but just that the central role isn’t what he’s best suited for. He does well against weaker teams but goes anonymous sometimes against the better sides. Hey, though, with his scoring record you cant drop him, maybe its just my personal preference but I’d prefer a bigger guy to play the central role, roofe has been getting goals but not necessarily playing that well. IMO this happened against city and he was poor at West Brom too.
I was more making the point that Bristol were at least as good as us first half and that’s worrying. We, effectively, had to rely on a red card to win the game.

I think we looked the more likely to score even before the red card and also think that because of the amount of pressing we do we tend to wear teams down and have scored a lot of late goals. The red card definitely helped but still think we would have won or had one of those matches where we had 20 shots but didn't score even without the red card.

Yes of course Weasel it's imperative that we finish the action in the final1/3, Bamford is going to be hopefully not only fit but really flying come Xmas and there after. We don't want the label of dare I mention it an Aresenal side of 4/5 seasons ago under Wenger that floundered at the most costliest time.

I felt there were quite a few parries from huffer that could have fallen anywhere and fortunately didn’t lead to anything.
Surely the pressing should work the other way round? We should be tired at the end of the game?
Probably one that not only can but will hold the ball a wee longer than the moment.
Just want a presence in around there that can
Clobber a couple of defenders now & then.

Roofes movement off the ball is crucial, helps bring others into attack, we’re creating chances for fun mist games,
yup
"A mind is like a parachute, it doesn't work if it's not open"
He cant go in behind if there so deep, he can go wide or drop off, either way the opposition can see him and know where he is and we are still relying on quick passes to get through.
Said before i think Roofe limits our play especially now teams are starting to learn that the best way to defend against us is drop off and stay narrow and compact, limit space, teams are very comfortable when all the play is in front of them.
Not a knock on Roofe he has done a great job considering.
But it wouldn't hurt to have a more physical threat imo.

Roofes movement is important and very good.
But what happens when defenders just ignore him?

Maybe Bamford?
Difficult to argue with his 8 goals in 12 games plus a few assists too this season Cjay, then there is the immense improvement in Roofe's all round game such as his relentless running off the ball, the energy he puts in chasing down defenders & his hold-up play which has been equally impressive.
We missed Roofe & Pablo when they were both out injured picking up only 10 points from 8 games during their absence
