No such thing as the law of averages in sport.
As every rich bookie knows.

No such thing as the law of averages in sport.

I think the MB is the only one who can answer that. Brown obviously isn't ticking the boxes atm and I doubt he will have any impact on this season whatsoever.SG90 wrote:Unless we're resigning Brown next season, then why is he here? Why are we spending money to get him fit for someone else? Can AR or Kinnear answer that to us?

I'd have had him on the bench but wouldn't have swapped him for Bamford, we needed a goal, Bamford is struggling but still more likely to score then sodding Dallas.faaip wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2019 4:57 pm agreed I wouldn't have had Roofe on the bench today at all. TBH not sure where he fits going forward but I've said that before. It's way too late in the season to introduce a 442 or 352, and it's way too late to bed in Brown and others. I think we have to play with what we have, get a little more creative with the subs and hope SU fall apart and/or we get the rub of the green in the playoffs.
Forgot to quote CJay

Absolutely right, every time Shack has played he has injected pace and a tenacity . I reckon his patience will start growing a little thin sooner rather than later.faaip wrote:MB likes his players to play through bad form, problem is that can take time. The non use of Shack has baffled me, I can understand not using Brown but not using a player who's been quality everytime he's played is mystifying

Doesn't bare thinking about.

Yep not to mention all the smug gloating from the Brexits (Moose et al), Keith Andrews, Don Goodman etc.

i've not said it often but I have consistently said that all season and I still think it.Cjay wrote: ↑

MB is great but he is so so predictable at times.
Dallas was guaranteed to come on.
Roofe for Bamford was locked on.
Clarke for someone was certain.
Why not Shacks for someone?
Why not keep Roofe and Bamford on?
I'd like to see us try Roofe and Bamford as a pair, Classic 9 and 10.

The summer would be unbearable

Yeah, as was said earlier, great to be loyal to Ayling, but he's taken about 10 games to come good again.

Roofe has one year left on his contract and wants £40k which isn't happening, so he'll be off. Every PL club will want Clarke and we won't reject £10m, which is peanuts in the PL. Jansson will probably be off too and very hard to replace.faaip wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2019 6:52 pm I don't think we'll have a summer clean out, we may lose PJ but his form has tailed off and no one is paying for Clarke at the moment. Phillips is not going to get a lot of higher suitors either, he's done well out of position in a system but I'm not sure that translates to a big money move to the Prem.
I'm seeing
Casilla
Ayling - Beradi - Cooper - Douglas
Forshaw or Phillips
Hernandez - Klich - Boguz - Alioski
Bamford/Roofe or AN Other
Being the core next season always assuming a top european or prem club even comes in for PJ
Halme/Strujk and Diaz also one more year in the system.

I agree with most of that and feel the same, very disappointed with todays inept performance. BUT we have done amazingly well with the squad we have, its a poor quality league thats why we have managed to be where we are. In another season our inability to score would probably be disastrous !!White Riot wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2019 4:12 pm I agree Cjay that we are the best team in this division, by quite a bit.
But we have failed to take chances in every match and have a terrible conversion rate.
Then in matches against poor teams like Brum, Hull, QPR, Forest, Stoke we just don't look up for it - that worries me a lot if we end up in the paly-offs as any shows like this will be severly punished.
I thought against norwich and Blunts we had some bad luck, but both showed more bottle and resolve - again worrying.
Still not over, but I just feel completely deflated and felt negative for the full 90, whereas I'm usually very positive that we can always win.
Sigh, looks like SU need to slip up now or we're gonna have to do it the hard way.
to get up we need to show bottle and fight, sorry, but I didn't see that today and I also didn't see it against QPR.
If we don't go up it'll be our own fault.

I'm the only poster that really rates Roofe so he'd be no loss, plus he is contracted through 20 IIRC. Clarke isn't worth 3 M right now. He flashed early in the season then faded then got ill, ...PJ will probably head back to play in the top Dutch or Swedish league. Or Russia.SG90 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2019 7:02 pm Roofe has one year left on his contract and wants £40k which isn't happening, so he'll be off. The longer we stay in the Championship, the u23s will be off too.
That defence looks woeful to me.
