I don't think the majority of modern day footballers would last many minutes on the pitch these days if the likes of Smith, Storey, Hunter, Harris, Mackay, etc were still playingMuppet the Cat wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 9:03 pm Indeed, I don't think he'd last many minutes on the pitch today, before the ref's red card would come out![]()

Proper hard man defender from the 70's along with the likes of our very own Norman Hunter.
Football was a different game back then.
RIP Tommy.

Paul Raymond ufo keyboard, guitarist passed away of a heart attack. Ufo were on a farewell tour, a 70's rock band of the highest order. Strangers in the night my favourite live album.

Saw UFO a couple of times in the 70's, own their live album 'Strangers In The Night' even though I'm not that keen on their music, just not my taste & all sounds somewhat dated 40 years later.Mick Jones shoulder wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 7:29 am Paul Raymond ufo keyboard, guitarist passed away of a heart attack. There were tributes to Paul on Johnnie Walker's radio show yesterday with a UFO song featured

Tom Greenwood
A World War Two veteran who celebrated his 100th birthday in December has died peacefully with his daughter by his side. Mr Greenwood served during the Second World War and was actually reported dead while serving in North Africa in 1942. His parents had been told he was killed in action, but he had actually been captured and was named as a prisoner in the local paper two months later. Following the war he married the late Marjorie Hartley and worked at the family garage, before going on to be a private hire driver, and was also a lifelong Leeds United supporter and keen walker.

Sorry I missed that '64 McNeill was iconic & a legend to all at Celtic park.
Captain of them when we got to meet them in 1970 European Cup if I recall right.
Around here the Celtic following is a Colossus just as Billy is.

I met Billy whilst working in the Middle East 64. Our head of dept was not only a dentist but a very well know Scottish Singer (in Scotland) and the Celtic team were over to play a football match. Alasdair knew some of the team and invited them to the hospital for lunch. He called me into his office so I could meet the players and introduced me as a massive football fan. Billy asked me which football team did I support.....I replied....Leeds United. Billy said "Och away! I thought Alasdair said you were a football fan".

You'd have thought McNeil would have shown more respect to you Swannie as I'm pretty sure he'd be good mates with Bremner, Lorimer & Eddie Gray & possibly with Harvey, Jordan, McQueen & Frankie Graywhiteswan wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 12:27 pm I met Billy whilst working in the Middle East 64.
