Roofe is miles off fitness and sharpness, a blow for the playoffs if he is back for them because he will have no time to prepare but he has been dire since he got back.

Come to think of it wasnt it Roofe losing the ball that lead to goals vs Wigan and Brentford, definitely was for Brentfords 2nd, maybe not Wigan :duno:

Hopefully a chance for Edmondson.

Definitely time to play some of the hungry U23's and try and revitalise the team a bit whilst resting the "talent" at the same time

MB worried me in the Press Conference. His comments that going forward from this season that his squad would not be able to maintain the standards of this season. Then him not taking the opportunity to say that he would like to be around next season.

I wonder if he was trying to send a message to the players or just being honest. :duno:

I have a feeling that if we are truly skint then we only have 4 or hopefully 5 games to get out of the season what we all dreamed off in December when the wins were coming back to back.

These aren't the sort of thoughts or comments he should be making now. There are more important issues atm and what effect is all this having on the players. Yet again the club is being distracted from the main concerns.

Marcelo thoughts are realistic so I reckon he's making a honest statement

more than likely be a dead rubber but whatever our situation on sunday the game will give us a chance to gain back some much needed confidence and pride if nothing else . its crucial to get back the winning mentality if we are going to be successful in the playoffs.
As for changes i'd personally like to see shackleton given a chance and give klich a much needed rest.

If Sheffield win then resting players like Pablo , Jansson , Cooper , Klich and give players such as Clarke , Shackelton , Dallas , Berardi some minutes . 2 Play Off games should be our focus , we can't afford anymore injuries as our squad is paper thin as it is .
Then again i can understand the need of playing your best squad out on the field to gain some much needed confidence leading into the Play off's .

No indication, Harry. Just said that he wasn't able to sprint properly, so they'd assess it. Bit of a blow really. Would be nice for Bamford yo pull his socks up now and really get us through these last two games (goalscoring-wise).

Honestly, if you're going to knock the players so much, why bother posting? Roofe hasn't been fully fit, but he's been our best striker this season and so needed to play his way to fitness/sharpness. He's best as a 9, but has come on as a 10 more in the recent games and it doesn't suit him as well.

I'm sure one of the kids will come onto the bench, but I'm not convinced that Edmonson is ready tbh. He dominates defences in the youth games because he's massive, but when he's made senior appearances he's not had much impact.

I'll be interested to see who it is that comes into the squad. If it's not Izzy Brown (e.g. if Edmonson, Bogusz etc get the nod) then that loan really has been a bust. Clearly there's something just not right with his attitude because Lewis Baker got in, and Brown can't be worse than him!

Genuinely think we are shot manager and players having seen recent body language. . Seriously over achieved, especially up to Christmas. Since then, think we are midtable form wise, so we need to over achieve again. Hopefully we can👍

Thanks Genghers. Hopefully just for the Villa match then, and that Bamford can rediscover his goal-scoring touch.

Its not a knock its a fact, he has been dire since he came back and he was in poor form before he got injured. Dont agree he has been our best striker either as i dont think he is a natural striker, just my opinion.

I understand he isnt fully fit and i dont blame him for that however doesnt mean he hasnt been very poor since returning.

Edmondson seems the obvious one, i suspect it will be him, Bogusz or Stevens. Think Brown is done, be amazed if we see him in the first team again.

I wonder if Brown is arrogant or something? Maybe he has a character trait Bielsa doesnt like.

Got to move on now.

Villa were 19 points behind us after 34 games sat in 14th with a goal difference of +4.

They aren't Manchester City, the players have to remember that and draw confidence from it.

Form is temporary class is permanent.

We are the better side over the season, no need to be afraid of Villa or anyone else .

We've taken 41 points off the top half in 21 games (frustratingly we did the same vs the bottom half which has cost us).

But that record vs the top half is awesome and the players have to remember that.

For over 75% of the season Villa have been a mid table side, we have been a title chasing side that specialises in taking points of the best sides.

Finish the season strong and the world is our lobster.

This should be like two teams meeting in pre season knowing they'll play each other week two, neither side will want to give away too much tactically. Both should rest players if they have any sense

Win or lose I wouldn't take too much away from the game in regards to playoffs ...

You'd think so.

Be disappointed in Bielsa if he stubbornly picks the same team, this isn't the game for it.

Hernandez and Klich especially need a rest.

Rest Ayling, Cooper and Jansson to.

Give the kids a chance, maybe give Jack Clarke and Jamie Shackleton a chance to get 90minutes and maybe in Clarkes case get some confidence back in a dead rubber game.

I honestly don't think we should be resting swathes of players for this game. Sends out a negative message, especially when we could end up 4th if we lose the next 2.

Until it's mathematically impossible we still have to try.
