Maybe he is well known as a troublemaker within the camp, maybe teams want to stay clear of that and Brentford are the onyl ones willing to take that gamble?

I dont have any facts, but if he is worth more why are teams not banging our door down?
But he has 3 years left on his contract. Why not just loan him out for a year or six months?

What happens if Bielsa leaves before the end of the season? Which could happen tbf. As I said with Clarke, this is all very short termist.

I don't understand that point especially as Jansson wasn't match-fit for the first few games last season. Still believe if Pontus had played in the 2nd leg v Derby we wouldn't have opened up like the red sea & probably have made it to the play-off final

Someone has got to want to take him on loan, do you kow if anyone has made an enquiry?

I dont beleive the club would willingly take the worst option available to them.

Anyway he's gone today or at least by the end of this week, no good crying over spilt milk

We just have to hope contingency plans are imminent

I said from day one that Ben White was his replacement. Nice and cheap for Radz.

Expect KP to play CB again.

I suspect Brentford simply inquired saying we'll offer £5.5m and the club just accepted straight away without thinking. Otherwise it makes no sense to sell to a rival for so cheap and Pontus has 3 years left. We're acting like he is ooc next week and need money desperately.

Peter Jansson implied they had been trying to find a buyer for 3 weeks.

:( That's my fear, that White or Berardi are the replacement. But we all know we need someone more experienced.

Isn't it fair to say that with Berardi hurt, he had no choice but to play Pontus? There's no denying, no matter how much we rate Pontus as a defender, that Berardi and Cooper were working well in Bielsa's system early doors. Re the play-off 2nd leg, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but again we were all in agreement that Berardi had been excellent in the first leg. There was no clamour to drop him until after the horror show, then the mob came out. I'll say it again, a better ref and GB stays on the pitch as he was fouled 3 times before he lost it.

Mine neither, Adam, but isn't that the nature of Bielsa-ball, the system has risks? We all gave a collective "WTF?" when those two were paired together, but it did work. Would it through an entire season had Berardi not been injured? Don't know, but I think if we want Bielsa, we have to trust him, even when he does things that are slightly left-field.

We do have to trust him and because of that style I can excuse Cooper getting caught out trying to play the ball out from the back etc but Berra is a walking red card at centre back. It's always going to concern me.

MB does prefer younger players because they are more willing to listen and not question tbf.

But as much as we appreciate MB say it is his choice, what if he is wrong? MB has previous for having poorer 2nd seasons, in fact every 2nd season has been poorer i think.

He also has previous for mass clearouts of experienced players (its exactly what happened at Lille and was a disaster) wasnt entirely his fault tbf but partially at least.

Say this was MBs choice, we have sold one of our best players cheaply on his advice.

6months time its all gone wrong and MB goes.

Where do we go from their?

No promotion next season could be a disaster because of this sell to loan policy.

Its not balancing the books its selling to cover losses then replacing with loans, in effect selling assets to fill the gap but then spending heavy on loans so not really reducing losses at all just assets.

Greatly appreciate MB for last season but not blind to his past, this entire situation worries me, Jansson, the loans, the lack of a long term plan.

MB is a flawed genius, despite this I'm delighted he is here because god help us with him.

Just hope the club know what they are doing.

I think we have to accept this was an MB descision. And yes he is a flawed genious but he has got us closer to the Premier League than anyone else in the last 10 years so we have to back him this season. It could all fall apart, but then we start again and I think we have a fairly good basis to build from.

I'm gutted Jansson isnt in his plans, I think he's the best defender we have but I have to trust this process. Bielsa deserves a shot after what he achieved last season.

Agree. I like him for his passion and the fact that he gets us, seems to love it here, but I'd be concerned if MB sees him as a starting CB this season.

Cos he was the best option available once Berardi got injured. Already gone over this several times in that PJ was dropped for the Middlesborough game so Bielsa could restore the Cooper/Berardi partnership despite PJ playing well (think he was motm) against Norwich in the 3-0 win prior to the Boro game. Once Berardi got injured the options were either to bring in a youth player or drop KP into defence. Bielsa, in letting Halme leave, has clearly shown that he didn't rate Halme. With Forshaw injured it made it harder to drop KP into defence.

Really you should try using logic and stop ignoring posts when people use logic and actual facts to explain things.

We will never know although it was telling that Bielsa chose not to bring PJ on when Berardi was red carded by the appalling referee.

I also don't buy the PJ not being match fit argument. As I have mentioned earlier PJ had played a few matches (including the Norwich 3-0 win) due to injuries, cup matches etc but was then dropped for the returning Berardi for the Middlesborough match. Berardi's injury in the Middlesborough match is the only reason PJ got his place back for the majority of the season.

We were all incredulous last season when Bielsa kept picking a Berardi/Cooper combo yet it worked extremely well. Have posted stats elsewhere so won't repeat them. Bielsa knows what he needs to make his system work and he understands his system far better than all of us and if he sees Berardi/Cooper/White as fitting into his system better than PJ then we really should respect his decision - why clamour to keep Bielsa and then question what he does?

You can't say you want him here but then not allow him to do things the way he wants to. Like you say he has had bad second seasons, mostly it seems because the boards didn't give him the proper support. How many of those bad second seasons were simply down to Bielsa, I would doubt more than 1 or 2 and if he has learnt from them then he knows he has to make the decisions and not question himself.

I back Bielsa 100% - I think the only player sold (or in the process of being sold) that he would have wanted to keep is Vieira. Obviously you can add Clarke to that but finances dictate and I am sure he was delighted that we got him back so in effect it is a sale in a year's time.

Pretty much sums up my concerns.
