Match Thread - York City v Leeds Utd (Wed 10th July)

Post by Ellandback1 »

York City vs Leeds United

Wednesday 10th July 2019, 7:00pm | Bootham Crescent

Leeds United travel the short distance to Bootham Crescent this evening to play their first competitive game since the play-off heartbreak at the hands of Derby County 56 days ago! Marcelo Bielsa has named an experimental team combing youth and experience against the Minstermen. There has been much speculation about certainplayers over the past few days and some nerves may be put at rest by the sight of Kemar Roofe starting up front. There is no sign of Kalvin Phillips but the club say he is expected to play at Guiseley tomorrow along with Klich, Alioski & Costa. Luke Ayling is doubtful for both games after picking up a knock.

Leeds will follow tonight’s friendly with a second warm-up game at another National League North side in Guiseley tomorrow night before leaving for the club’s pre-season tour of Australia this weekend. Leeds United’s first two pre-season fixtures against York City (Wednesday 10th July 7:00pm) and Guiseley (Thursday 11th July 7:45pm) will be shown live and free on LUTV. The line-ups for this evenings game are;

Leeds United:
Casilla, Dallas, Berardi, Cooper, Douglas, Forshaw, Hernandez, McCalmont, Harrison, Roofe, Bamford
Subs: Miazek, Gotts, Edmondson, Hosannah, Jenkins, Oduor, Struijk, Kun, McCarron

York City:
Whitley, King, McNulty, Allen, Griffiths, Beresford, Green, McLaughlin, Ferguson, Burrow, Maguire
Subs: Moke, Tait, Bond, Kempster, Langstaff, Dyer, Newton, Wright, Jameson, Jebson-King, Watson, Harrison, Ventura

Just finished our match having a cuppa before heading home.

Too much of a rush to even consider going to the game, driving into York is a nightmare at peak hour time, also parking is poor having to park up miles from the ground. Anyway knackered after a long day, get home have a meal & watch the game on my laptop :-D

Btw we won 30-6 :)

Strong team, glad to hear Philips will be involved tomorrow, his name was the first I looked for tonight.
Looking at that squad though we have got a really good base to work on when you think of the others who aren’t involved. Really frustrating that 2 decent additions and nobody else leaving would make us very dangerous next year, please take a hit to the pocket Radz

You'd have to have something wrong with you to bet on a friendly which is basically two teams going through the motions to get match fit, and for the coach to try a thing or two.

So I'm guessing that that is Roofe stuck in the 10 role or are we playing two up top?

1-0 Leeds

Good work Dallas and Pablo...Harrison back to goal turns it in from around the pen spot
